This week, Tommy and his two little helpers headed out on an orange box collection mission ahead of roast chicken day, making sure we had enough boxes ready for all of our nursery deliveries.

Safe to say the trolley duties were taken very seriously 😄

Yesterday we delivered some of our dinner sets to the wonderful team at as a thank you for being a long-standing Zebedees customer 💛

While we were there, we were blown away by the incredible mealtime environment they’ve created for their children.

From flowers on the tables and fairy lights overhead, to children confidently self-serving their meals, pouring water into proper cups, laying the tables and even cutting up their own potatoes, every detail had been thoughtfully designed to create calm, meaningful and social mealtimes.

At Rainbows, mealtimes are recognised as an important part of the day and an opportunity to support children’s independence, confidence, communication and self-care skills.

These everyday experiences help children:

A fun, interactive virtual class designed to help children explore healthy eating through play, discussion and hands-on food activities.

Something new is landing on the menu next week… 👀🧀🥖

We’re introducing a simple second course of breadsticks & grated cheese – designed with both nutrition and development in mind.

Under the new EYFS Nutrition Guidance (from September 2025), settings are encouraged to provide balanced meals with a variety of foods, textures and food groups across the day and week

✔️ Dairy for calcium and growth
✔️ Starchy carbs for energy
✔️ Finger foods to support independence

And it’s not just about what children eat – it’s how they eat it.

Picking up smaller food items like grated cheese supports fine motor skills and pincer grip, helping little hands develop the coordination they need for writing and self-feeding.

The guidance also highlights the importance of introducing different textures and encouraging children to handle food themselves, supporting confidence and reducing fussy eating over time

Because at Zebedees, every part of the plate has a purpose 💛

We launched our new Spring/Summer menu last week… and it couldn’t have come at a better time 🌱

From September 2025, the new EYFS Nutrition Guidance came into effect, bringing a renewed focus on what children should be eating in early years settings and why it matters.

At Zebedees, this is something we’ve been building towards for years. Our menus are designed to meet the guidance, support balance across the week, and help children build healthy habits from the very start.

We know that putting guidance into practice isn’t always straightforward. From allergies to budgets to fussy eating, there are real challenges for nurseries every day.

Big changes are coming to school meals 👀

The government has announced new standards that will remove deep-fried foods and reduce sugar, with a stronger focus on healthier, balanced meals for children.

And while this is a big shift for many schools… it’s not new to us.

At Zebedees, we’ve been creating deliciously nutritious menus for early years settings for years – focusing on:
✔️ Balanced meals across the week (not just one plate)
✔️ Lower sugar and salt without compromising on flavour
✔️ Variety and repeated exposure to support healthy eating habits
✔️ Meals children actually enjoy and recognise
