Talk and Talk - Balancing the mind and body through sound healing
We already know that music can have a major impact on our mood. Fast beats pump us up and motivate us to work out, slow songs make us feel wistful and melancholic, and soothing music helps us drift off to sleep.
A person doesn’t hear sound only through the ears: They experience sound through every pore of their body; it permeates the entire being.
Sound healing can also balance the mind and body by facilitating emotional and physical release.
And that is why, for this month’s Talk and Talk session, we are excited to welcome Maiwenn Langlois, a sound bath practitioner.
What is a sound bath?
Sounds have vibrations that affect us on a neurological, physiological, and biochemical level.
When our bodies ‘experience’ sound, vibrations can pass through liquid, solid and gas in the form of a wave. YES! That’s right we are also feeling sound. It even has the potential to turn our cells on and off. (Much like diet and exercise)
So, during a sound bath you GET TO lay down, rest and receive. Snuggle down in a comfy nest, wrapped in blankets and supported by pillows. All the while your senses are cleansed and the vibrations in the room allow your body to reverberate back to its natural resting state.
