Ahadadream’s P ★ K I is a love letter to the sounds that made him.

From Pakistani heritage to UK Grime, Funky, breaks and global club sounds, Ahadadream brings every part of his musical identity to the same dancefloor.

Across 11 tracks, P ★ K I is bass-heavy, percussion-led and deeply personal, with appearances from Capo Lee, Eliza Rose, Skrillex and Priya Ragu - alongside “Tere Bin”, featuring the legendary voice of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

But this album is about more than sound. Its title reclaims a word Ahadadream grew up hearing positively in Pakistan before encountering its harmful meaning in the UK, turning the record into an expression of identity, pride and self-love.

We experienced the album first-hand at its launch at Peckham’s Carpet Shop with Mixmag. Hearing these sounds through a club system was a seriously proud moment. Hosted by the incredible T.A.L.I.N.A, with the line up consisting of the powerhouse duo Mak 10 and “This is the captain speaking”👨🏾‍✈️, the incredible Yemz and the incredible Izzi, and of course Ahadaadream closing the night in style!

South Asian sounds aren’t being separated from Ahadadream’s UK experience, they’re being brought together. And “Tere Bin” captures that beautifully.

Hearing the room sing it back, loud and together was something special.

Two worlds. One sound. One dancefloor.

With Diljit Dosanjh taking over Wembley, we’ve been thinking about just how far Punjabi music has travelled.

From family homes and wedding dancefloors to clubs, festivals and now one of the biggest stadiums in the UK, the sound has been carried across generations and across borders.

But there was something different about seeing it at Wembley. No translation, no compromise - just Diljit Dosanjh performing with pride, in front of tens of thousands of people.

For our Cultural and Editorial Lead, this was an opportunity he couldn’t miss. “I remember hearing Chocolate and Pyar for the first time and thinking who is this guy. I may have only been 5 but there was something about him that already had me hooked. Fast forward to multiple albums and tours that kept getting bigger and bigger, it was only right that I finally got to see him live and I was only going to do that with my Mum (sorry Dad and to my sister).”

If you hear any dodgy vocals or see any shaky camera work, please forgive me I was very excited!

A monumental achievement for the continued success of Punjabi music and South Asian culture. Long may it continue!

Mumbai’s bass culture has a new frontman.
Meet Bamboy: Mumbai’s bassline rebel.

From carrying speakers through the streets of Parel to shelling down Boiler Room sets, BamBoy is pushing Mumbai’s underground into new territory.

Raised on the soundtrack of Bollywood, folk, Bhim Geet and local roadshows, his relationship with sound started long before the studio. Then came grime.

Wiley. Skepta. Heavy bass. Sharp flows. Raw storytelling.

But BamBoy wasn’t interested in copying the UK blueprint. Instead, he flipped it - colliding grime and dubstep with Indian percussion, folk sounds and the noise of Mumbai to create something that hits differently.

From Parel to international stages, BamBoy isn’t importing a sound.

He’s building his own.

Mumbai has always had the sounds.
BamBoy is just turning them up.

Meet Baalti, the duo pushing South Asian sounds deeper into the UK underground.

Bhangra. Bollywood. Jungle. Garage. D&B. All colliding in one place.

Their sound isn’t about nostalgia or simply borrowing from South Asian culture. It’s about taking the sounds we grew up with and flipping them into something built for the dancefloor.

Their Boomtown set at Hidden Woods was a perfect example.

Heavy bass. South Asian rhythms. Big energy. No boxes.

For us at Daal & Bass, Baalti represent exactly where things are heading. South Asian culture not just influencing the underground, but helping shape what it sounds like.

The sound is getting heavier.
The movement is getting bigger.
And the underground is getting a whole lot more South Asian.

What happens when Punjabi music meets the UK underground?

For Bally-M, it’s not a hypothetical. It’s the foundation of his sound.

His debut EP on Daal & Bass records draws from two worlds that shaped him growing up - the Punjabi music that filled family gatherings and the Jungle and Drum & Bass that defined Britain’s underground.

The project also nods to pioneers like The Specialist, whose early Bhangra meets Jungle productions and his presence on pirate radio showed Bally-M that these sounds could exist side by side.

But the EP isn’t an exercise in nostalgia.

Punjabi instrumentation, vocals and cultural references meet chopped breaks, heavy basslines and the frenetic energy of Jungle - taking the foundations of the past and pushing them somewhere new.

This is Bally-M’s love letter to Punjabi Jungle.
