SQLBits 2026 at ICC Wales. A lot going on behind the scenes on this one.

8 breakout rooms all running simultaneously, every session livestreamed across 8 separate 9-hour streams per day, every delegate in the expo able to tune into whichever room they wanted via IR headsets. All of it controlled from a single desk.

The setup ran through the full venue infrastructure with picture-in-picture output feeding into the edge-blend wall in the main expo space. No small feat.

Midway through the show the brief changed. We adapted on the fly and delivered exactly what was needed without the audience ever noticing.

Last week, Ella took to the stage for her first-ever panel at the Electric Cat networking event. 🎉

Alongside Hatty Cadman and Stephanie, she got into the stuff that actually matters. What's driven real results this year, not just looked good in a report. How Premier's Marketing strategy has shifted in 2026- moving from building personal brand to focusing more on brand-level content and PR, whilst keeping things human-led.

Watching the team get opportunities like this is one of the best bits of the job. Ella smashed it.

Things every event planner needs to know 👇

1.Give yourself plenty of notice. As much as a last-minute event can be done, it's never fun for anyone. While it may not always be in your control, the more lead time you have, the more options you have.

2. Decide on a brief as early as possible. The more you know upfront, the fewer surprises later. A solid brief at the start saves a lot of back and forth down the line.

3. Check in regularly. Don't wait for things to go wrong before picking up the phone. Keep clients in the loop throughout the process and get approvals as you go. It keeps everyone aligned and timelines on track.

4. Don't be afraid to outsource. You don't have to do everything yourself. Bringing in the right people at the right time, whether that's production, event management, or delegate tech, frees you up to focus on what actually needs your attention. That's exactly what we're here for. 👋

5. Have a well-detailed working document. One place where everything lives. Everyone knows where to look, nothing gets missed, and handovers become much less painful. We think of our working docs as the event management bible.
