It’s a sad day for me. My favourite event space, , has now closed.
It’s been a real privilege to be on their approved suppliers list for many years. I’ve photographed countless weddings and corporate events there, and catching up with fellow suppliers was always part of the enjoyment.
The Gherkin represents a special chapter in my early career. I’d photographed plenty of events in London, but that venue always felt just out of reach. I’d see it on the skyline, knowing events were happening inside, but the enquiries never came. Until one day, one did.
The quote was accepted. The job went in the diary. I can still remember how excited I was.
The venue didn’t disappoint. Stepping out of the lift for the first time, I was struck by the quality and design—from the fabric-lined walls to the black tiled floors. And then I turned left. Seeing London through those iconic triangular panes of glass for the first time is something I’ll never forget.
The images were well received and I was added to the approved supplier list soon after. The bookings followed, but the sense of occasion never faded.
Who knows what the future holds for the venue. I’ll miss working there. And you never know—one day another enquiry might land in my inbox.
