This week, I’ve had a consultation with a bride, who has her bouquet, 5 bridesmaids, 7 groomsman (and possibly 2 baskets of petals to be thrown- which I haven’t included in my quote to her) and delivery venue was 43 miles away. I quoted what was a true reflection of costs (this post below says stranded up pricing of times 3, I don’t even use as much of that as my profit margin). She came back and said she needed it all for less than £400. I adjusted the quote slightly by going for a “standard” roses and not the best of the best to get the colour as close to what she wanted, and adjusted the b’maids but could only reduce it by about £45.
I spent a good 45 mins on the initial consultation, which I don’t mind doing and love getting to talk to new people, BUT I’ve “whittled” about this all week. I can’t work for free, I’ve got to take into account I’ve got 18 years experience but it’s so hard to feel like you can help that person have what they want!
This post below shows how quickly the costs mount up!
