Soooo
What happens if you look at flowers in a different way?
Iāve been thinking about Dahlia alot. Theyāre wierdly early but theyāre also not really heat loversā¦.
We usually aim to cut our Dahlia 3 times a week. But this year Iām cutting them twice, watering and feeding less and watching to see how they do.
Why?
Well I donāt want to dig them up in autumn-too much work.
I donāt want them to get stressed in the heat, work too hard and then not have the reserves to cope with whatever winter throws at them.
And I want to make sure that I have focal flowers in our dried flower offering this autumn. So twice a week suits our schedule better.
What iām learning is that this slightly more gentle approach seems to suit our Dahlia, on our hot dry droughty site.
I think weāre all needing to be open to more change than weāre comfortable with. For us the aim to to sustain what we have so that we donāt have to waste money replacing what we have. Sometimes this will mean going more gently rather than pushing harder.
Friday thoughts!
