Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre - HEART - is the arts, enterprise and community centre in the middle of Headingley run by the community for the community. People are at our heart – as well as it is the way we operate in the building. HEART exists thanks to the efforts of Headingley Development Trust that worked hard to keep this old primary school in community use. At the heart of Headingley

, we offer a versatile venue to hire, a spacious shared workspace and a varied programme of events and classes. Visit us for fun or for work, but make sure you stop by Assembly Bar + Kitchen nestled inside the building – a great place to grab a drink or a bite to eat with family or friends.

📖 Meet Blue — our Zine Making facilitator for HEART Summer Schools!

Blue is a Comic and Concept Art graduate from Leeds Arts University, currently studying MA Illustration. His session will take you through the history of zines, how they're made, and what they can be, comic, art book, poetry, writing, whatever suits you best. You'll make your own one-sheet folded zine to take home, with an optional prompt inspired by what Leeds means to you.

Blue will also be sharing highlights from Leeds Central Library's zine library and the zine scene in the local area. 📚

🌱 Meet Lynn — our Rewilding facilitator for HEART Summer Schools!

Lynn's session is all about getting outside and learning how to look at the world differently. In the morning you'll explore permaculture principles, map habitats, and test soil — then in the afternoon you'll bring your own designs to life, whether that's a mini window box, a bug house, or mapping the HEART site itself.

Open to young people aged 11–16. No experience needed.

🎨 Meet Rosie — one of our Summer Schools facilitators!

Rosie is a fine art graduate from the University of Leeds and runs our monthly art club here at HEART. Her session is all about turning plants and produce into characters, using collage, paint, mixed media, and anything else that sparks your imagination, learning different techniques to bring your ideas to life!

This session is open to young people aged 11–16 only. All facilitators are DBS checked and sessions are supervised by qualified adults.
