Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre - HEART - is the arts, enterprise and community centre in the middle of Headingley run by the community for the community. People are at our heart – as well as it is the way we operate in the building. HEART exists thanks to the efforts of Headingley Development Trust that worked hard to keep this old primary school in community use. At the heart of Headingley

, we offer a versatile venue to hire, a spacious shared workspace and a varied programme of events and classes. Visit us for fun or for work, but make sure you stop by Assembly Bar + Kitchen nestled inside the building – a great place to grab a drink or a bite to eat with family or friends.

🌱Have you got your ticket for Headingley Open Gardens 2026?

On Sunday the 21st of June, the gates will open to an exciting selection of gardens in and around Headingley. Wander along the trail, and see what’s in bloom! 🌷Your ticket will include a map which takes you to each garden included on our list, in whichever order you choose!

HEART is the main hub for the event! The cafe will be open from 10am so come grab a cuppa before you head out wandering 😋☕️

🌻The Cloud Gardener UK comes to HEART!

We are excited to be welcoming Jason Williams aka the Cloud Gardener to give us a very interesting talk all about urban gardening! Jason is a well decorated and experienced gardener based in Manchester, who started balcony gardening in the pandemic, and has since amassed a large following online as he links urban gardening with mental health.

🎧 - TNL Presents: Herbie and Joe Frost - Beaten Track

We are thrilled to welcome back Herbie Underwood with a new project in collaboration with prolific jazz pianist Joe Frost on the 9th. Bringing some new ideas with a different line-up, Herbie // Joe Frost will be bringing the energy of live jazz with layers of electronic soundscapes and drum loops.

To bring their music to life, they will be joined by three of their wonderfully talented friends, Tom McEwen (guitar + synth), Toby Freeman (Synth + Bass) and Reece Soko-Fogg (Percussion)

Check out our absolutely stellar musical lineup for this weekend’s HEART Fest ➡With a diverse range of genres from 12-5pm on both days, playing in and outside, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Covering avant jazz from Ferg and Glen, alt folk from HerOrangeCoat and Marinduque, country-gaze from Gloria, neo-soul jazz piano and vocals from Luke Saunders, folk rock originals and covers from Katerina, americana-folk from four-piece Absi, poetry from Soundbites– all capped off with an exciting performance from Mean Steel, Meanwood’s very own steel pan band!

Plus, on Sunday at 11:30am we have a collaboration with Jazz @ HEART and the Leeds Jazz Festival; an hour and half of vibrant entertainment, courtesy of the HEART House Jazz Band – featuring John Arnesen, Sam Jackson and Harry Orme.

🎲HEART On Board with DJ Muck

Board games? Dancing? Music? Can you think of a better way to wind down and turn it up after a busy HEART Fest Saturday you have spent perusing the market and making zines? Our very own DJ Muck (0800 Disco, Alto Radio) will be headlining a special, groovy edition of Heart on Board. Expect plenty of fresh, funky vinyl to get you throwing shapes from 7pm until late…

🎧Meanhood presents: Architects Of The Groove - Techno Mix-Masters

Join Meanhood for a new 90-minute deep-dive into the mechanics of underground techno DJing. This audio-visual workshop will begin at 16:30 on Saturday with a closing Q&A at 17:45. An exploration of dynamic punk-inspired DJ styles of mixmasters such as Jeff Mills and Dave Clarke.

🧘🏻Movement and Mindfulness with Maddie

With a blend of yoga, intuitive movement and drama games, enjoy an hour of mindfulness at 13:30 on Sunday. Maddie will be exploring trust and co-creation, and all abilities are welcome! Please bring water and comfortable clothes to move in!

🕺The Family Ceilidh

A HEART fan-fave, this special family edition of our ceilidh will be open to all ages, with a more relaxed and inclusive set of dances. Taking place on Sunday at 3pm, the ceilidh is free to join, children must be supervised by an adult!

🎨Crafty Activities at HEART Fest 26!

We have got some really fun craft activities planned for the weekend, all free or PAYF, alongside all the rest of the great stuff going on throughout the festival!

👚 T-Shirt Printing + Clothes Swap (11-3pm both days)

We are so excited to share our clothing printing station with the public - logo lovingly made by new staff member Simran. This stall will be twinned with the clothes swap, so if you don't bring your own items then choose something from our rack to get printed!

🎨✏️🧍Life Drawing at HEART (Sunday 12-1, 1-2pm)

For all you budding artists, HEART Fest has got you covered! Our monthly Life Drawing at HEART will be holding two free sessions on the Sunday with the guidance of our wonderful in-house artist, Tommy Egan. All materials are provided during this fantastic opportunity to try the class for free (sign up sheet will be up on the day, first come first served)!

📖 Zine making with Blue (Both days 11-3pm)

We will also be hosting a free drop in zine making stall through both days! Come along and hang out with talented illustrator Blue as he takes you through the different steps of making your very own zine! Whether you have made a million before or trying for the very first time, you will definitely have lots of fun at this stall, and if you are just wanting to do something quick then you can contribute to our “Wall Quilt” !

🪶📜 On the Spot Poetry with Daiva (Both days 11-3pm)

And if there wasn't enough fun already, get your very own bespoke, typewritten poem from Daiva AKA On The Spot Poetry! Daiva will write a poem about any subject you wish. All poems are personalized to the individual, typewritten in a couple minutes and work on a pay-as-you-feel basis!
