❤️💙 What a fantastic morning at the Big Blood Pressure Brunch! 💙❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Healthy Hearts Hub event at the Leeds Caribbean & African Centre.

There was plenty of delicious food, great conversations and a brilliant atmosphere throughout the morning. The venue was buzzing as people enjoyed their Saturday together, with music, laughter and community spirit filling the room. 🎶❤️

Many people took the opportunity to have their blood pressure checked, learn more about their heart health and take positive steps towards knowing their numbers.

A special thank you to the team from the NHS Blood and Transplant Service who joined us and helped make the event even more informative and engaging.

Events like this show the power of communities coming together to support healthier lives. ❤️💙

💙 NEW: CHAPELTOWN & HAREHILLS HEALTHY HEARTS HUB 💝

We’re excited to announce that Leeds Caribbean & African Centre has been awarded funding through the Leeds NHS Health Check Programme to launch our Chapeltown & Harehills Healthy Hearts Hub! 🎉

Over the next six months, we’ll be bringing blood pressure awareness, checks and heart-health activities directly into our community. We are making it easier for people to know their Blood Pressure numbers, understand their health and take action early.

Our programme will include:

🩺 Regular free blood pressure checks at the Centre
🏃🏾‍♀️ Checks and health conversations through exercise, social and wellbeing activities
🥗 Healthy heart food and nutrition sessions, including culturally relevant healthy food swaps and cooking demonstrations
🧘🏾‍♀️ Sessions around stress, mindfulness and relaxation
🧂 Salt awareness: understanding hidden salt, reading labels and making healthier choices
💚 “Know Your Numbers” sessions to help you understand your blood pressure reading
👩🏽‍🔧Outreach sessions across our community spaces
🏠 Home visits for those who need one

We are focusing on communities experiencing health inequalities.
