An Update.
This Looks to be bigger and better than last time, and we do hope you'll come along.
Leeds Open Miniature Competition 9/3/25.
New Dock Hall,
Royal Armouries, Leeds.
Competition Entry will be open from 10am to 12.30pm.
The competition area will be closed for judging from 12.30pm.
Awards will be announced after 3.00pm
Cost of entry, for all classes = £2.00 per model. All entries must be the sole work of the person, or persons, named on the entry slip. Entrants in “Figure” classes may present their models as a collection but each figure, bust or vignette should be entered separately in a given class. Models entered in this competition in February 2024 will not be judged.
Entrants will be provided with an entry slip for each model with a note of the class entered and space to describe the work done on the entry: this will be particularly important in the “vehicle” classes to allow fair judging of Straight-kit, modified and scratch-built entries, and in “figures” entered in a collection.
Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards may be awarded in each class. Awards will be marked beside the rewarded models on the completion of judging. All entries should remain on the competition tables until 4.30pm.
Leeds Open
This will be an “open” competition in all senses:
Firstly, the competition is open to all. Membership of any club or IPMS etc. is not a condition of entry. The only condition of entry will be that the entrant has a wristband for entry to the 2025 show.
Secondly, the judging will be open. That is to say that gold, silver and bronze awards will be made on merit and not competitively: no 1st, 2nd and 3rd. That is to say that any number of models, or none, in each class, might be awarded a medal. We consider this to be fairer and more merit-based. It does have another aspect, being that the number of classes in each genre will be very many fewer than at the previous competitions we have run in Huddersfield and Halifax. There will be awards for Senior Best in Show: one “IPMS”, and one “White Rose”.
There will be a £50.00 voucher for “Best Ship” kindly donated by The Model Shop Leeds.
Judges of the appropriate expertise and experience have been drawn from the organising clubs, and elsewhere. The judges’ decisions will be final.
Please forewarn the organisers of any model or diorama of more than 60 x 60cm area, or more than 120cm long. We would hope not to have to exclude any model on the basis of size. The organisers reserve the right, however, to exclude models, if necessary, in the interests of fairness, or avoiding offence to other visitors to the show, or indeed for any other reason.

Entry requirements will be as for judged classes: £2 per entry and there must be a card with each entry with information about the model.
“What-ifs”, should be entered in the appropriate class and will be judged on their modelling-making merits.
Entrants in classes 8, 9 ,10 & 15 ; or classes 12,13 & 15 may present their entries as a “historical figures” or “fantasy” collection, but all figures must be separately entered.
Crew and other figures may be included in any class if appropriate.
The judges will move models between classes if they consider that the entered model is not in the most appropriate class. Entries will not be disqualified thereby.
