Craftea is a warm and welcoming role play cafe designed especially for young children to explore, imagine, and play in a safe and engaging environment. While the little ones dive into creative role play and hands on fun, adults can relax with a freshly brewed coffee and enjoy a calm, comfortable space to unwind. Well, thanks to swearing, Curse & Coffee evening raised £165 for Cancer Research UK! 🎉

A huge thank you to Luna for her beautiful singing, Jamie and Keith for their word artistry, and everyone who came along, laughed, donated, and supported such an important cause. ❤️

A few reminders of why this matters:

🔬 Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s thanks to advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

💪 Today, 1 in 2 people diagnosed with cancer are expected to survive for 10 years or more, compared with around 1 in 4 in the 1970s.

🎗️ Around 400,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK each year, which is why continued research and improved treatments remain so important.

Today I caught myself saying something that made my inner feminist wince 😬

I asked a customer, "Oh, are you off work with the kids tomorrow?"

And then I immediately thought... *off work?* 🤦‍♀️

Because let's be honest: looking after two toddlers is many things, but a day off isn't one of them.

In reality, it's swapping paid labour for unpaid labour. Fewer breaks, more negotiations, endless snack requests, and colleagues who have absolutely no respect for your personal space.

As someone who works in the NHS, I can confidently say that a day at work is often far more relaxing than a full day solo parenting two small children.

It got me thinking about how casually we describe childcare as being "off work" when, for many parents, it's arguably the hardest job of the lot.

So what's a better phrase?

I'd love to hear your suggestions.

The extended hours mean there’s plenty of time for the good stuff—big strategy games, deep cuts, and even longer roleplay sessions without needing to rush the table.

Bring your own games, jump into something new, or just wander between tables and see what’s being played. Whether you’re a seasoned tactician or just curious, you’ll find your people here.

This is a space to connect, talk, and just be. No pressure, no expectations — just real people supporting each other with a heavy metal edge.

Whether you're having a difficult time, looking to meet like-minded people, or simply want to spend time with others who understand, you'll find a friendly, welcoming, and judgement-free environment.

Just a heads up that the Leeds 10K takes place on Sunday 14th June, starting at 09:00 from the University of Leeds (Parkinson Steps). 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

This major city-centre event includes road closures and diversions across Leeds, which may affect travel routes in and around the area throughout the morning and early afternoon. 🚧

If you’re planning to visit Craftea on Sunday 14th June, please make sure to:

✔ Check your journey before you set off
✔ Allow extra travel time
✔ Plan an alternative route if needed
