🎈 A little business reality check… 🎈
Today I had a set of balloons made and ready for a customer who unfortunately didn’t turn up to collect them.
This was a very last-minute booking, but everything had been discussed and the 4pm collection time confirmed. Colour theme, balloon style, theme/logos, personalised message! I’d also sent photos of the finished balloons.
Before 4pm, I messaged to check whether her husband was still coming. It was only then that I was told they hadn’t heard from me or received payment details/full address.
I don’t send my full address until the day for privacy and security reasons. I normally give the area and beginning of the postcode beforehand.
I’ll hold my hands up and admit I’ve become a little too relaxed with my booking process. I should have made sure payment was taken before making the balloons — especially for last-minute orders. That part is on me.
BUT… I do feel there’s responsibility on the customer too. If you have a confirmed collection time and haven’t received something you’re expecting, please get in touch rather than waiting until after the agreed time.
I’d also sent photos of the finished balloons, which were opened, but unfortunately I received no response or apology. 💔
So, lesson learnt! From now on:
✨ Full payment is required to secure a booking
✨ No payment = no balloons will be made
✨ Payment details will be sent when booking
✨ Full collection details will still be sent on the day
I’m a small business, and every order involves my time, materials and money. A no-show can mean all of that is lost.
Sometimes you have to learn the hard way! 🙈
Please remember, communication works both ways. ❤️🎈
