The Kasey Venturi (SERIES 1) inspired by Kasey Claybourn
The Environment of Expectation
There is a massive difference between a casual set and a headline stage. In a beer garden, you’re background noise. But on a Regional Headline Tour, the rules change. When a family has paid £50 to stand in a freezing field for a spectacle, you aren’t just "the entertainment." You are the reason they are there.
When 100,000 people have their phones out to capture the memory they paid for, there is no "shrugging off" a malfunction. You have one shot. If your gear duds and puffs yellow dust at the climax of your set, there is nowhere to hide. "It was a bit windy" isn't an excuse for a professional; it’s a confession of poor equipment.
The Visionary: Why the "Kasey"?
The Kasey Venturi Series 1 is named after a high-end international performer and visionary who was the first to acknowledge a hard truth: the industry standard was no longer good enough.
The inspiration for this series came during the 2025 Bonfire Night Tour. While others with 20 years of experience relied on "luck" and watched their effects fail in the gale, Kasey Claybourn saw the difference. She watched as my prototype didn't just survive the tour—it thrived in it. In conditions that killed every other prop on stage, this design produced the largest, most consistent fire effects the veterans on-site had seen in their 20-year careers.
Since that tour, I have spent the last six months refining, testing, and perfecting that prototype. Kasey didn't just want a better prop; she demanded a new standard of reliability for the global stage. The Series 1 is the result of that six-month engineering sprint.
The End of the "12-to-6" Failure
Most performers are still relying on primitive designs from the early 2000s. Some try to fix the failure by jumping to massive 120mm flat-wicks or "hacking" their gear with mesh and jubilee clips. They are just masking a design flaw with more fabric—actually moving the flame away from the powder’s path. They simply cannot handle a fast clock-swing when the weather turns nasty.
With Lycopodium prices at an all-time high, being "cheap" with your equipment is the most expensive mistake you can make. Every time you swing and get a "puff" instead of a "blast," you are literally burning your own profit.
The Series 1 Engineering
* Modular Mastery: The only fully modular system on the market. Our proprietary threaded architecture allows you to strip the unit to the core, flush the internals, and actually maintain your gear for life. No more disposable, crimped tubes.
* Internal Geometric Porting: We’ve binned the restrictive "mesh hacks." The Series 1 features an internally ported core that stabilises the powder column. This creates a clean, high-velocity laminar flow that won't clog, damp-up, or sputter mid-performance.
* The Venturi Ignition Zone: We’ve engineered a precise "bloom chamber" between the nozzle and the ignition source. This ensures the powder aerosolises and hits the heat every single time—no matter the wind speed or the centrifugal force of your swing.
* The Rope Wick Advantage: The Series 1 features a high-density, compressed Rope Wick. It creates a 3D, textured flame-core that "grips" the powder and refuses to let go.
* Storm-Proof Pilot: Unlike the standard 25mm or 50mm flat-wicks found on basic or hobbyist designs, this will not fail you. While other props go out like a candle in the wind, this is a sustained, high-output burner that stays lit when the elements are fighting to kill it.
The Legacy Upgrade Program
We aren't just launching a new prop; we’re raising the industry standard. If you are currently running a compatible lycopodium system that isn't performing to a headline standard, we offer a professional Recycle & Upgrade service. Send us your legacy gear, and we will retro-fit it with the Venturi Series 1 internals and Rope Wick architecture. Stop struggling with outdated tech and bring your kit into the modern era.
The Reality Check
The Series 1 is built specifically for Special Effects Professionals and those with extensive experience in high-output fire effects. Because it is engineered to be Wind-Defiant, the pilot flame is significantly more robust than a standard wick. This prop requires advanced extinguishing techniques and professional-grade safety equipment. If you aren't yet at the level where you are managing sustained, high-capacity fire effects, we recommend continuing with the standard alternatives on the market.
The Bottom Line
You can bet your headline reputation on a basic, off-the-shelf tube and hope for a calm night, or you can invest in the Kasey Venturi Series 1.
When the cameras are rolling and the crowd is waiting, don’t give them a dud. Buy it once. Build it right. Own the stage.
