📣Join our team! We are hiring!! St Faith’s Parish Centre Caretaker (Job share role, part time)
St Faith’s Parish Centre is a vibrant, church-based community venue with a committed and forward-thinking team. The Church & Parish Centre Caretaker is a role focussed on setting up for, and tidying away after, events in the Centre, as well as its cleaning and maintenance.
The caretaker role is shared by two people to ensure 7-days-a-week coverage. We are looking for one person to work as a team with our other caretaker. Much of the work takes place in the mornings, opening up and cleaning the Parish Centre before hirers arrive. The role will involve weekend and late-night working, up to midnight when required. We anticipate that you would work around 15 hours per week, although the hours will vary according to the bookings in any given week.
⚠️The role is ideal for people who live close to St Faith’s, as the job usually requires being on-site 4 times a day.
We have worked to develop the Centre’s reputation as a quality venue with an excellent standard of customer service and are looking for someone who will see the caretaker role in this light. The successful applicant will be self-managing and personable with a good eye for detail and good team working skills.
👉🏻Main duties and responsibilities:
· Assisting the Centre Manager, the Church Manager and the other caretaker in the supervision and day to day management and running of the Parish Centre.
· Ensuring that the Parish Centre is cleaned to a high standard.
· Preparation and dismantling of various functions from small meetings to large dinner/dances, parties & conferences which could involve up to 150 chairs. The post requires a lot of manual handling which will involve lifting/moving/setting up/packing away of furniture e.g. 6ft x 3ft rectangular tables, 3ft x 3ft tables, etc.
· Undertaking DIY tasks as needed to maintain the fabric of the Centre.
· To work closely with the other caretaker, communicating well and sharing the caretaker workload between the two.
· To maintain all relevant risk assessments and ensure that health & safety policy and procedures are strictly adhered to.
· Some working with ladders is required.
The salary for this role is £14 per hour, paid in arrears based on hours worked.
