After 20 years in face painting, one thing I’ve noticed:

The job has become so much more than face painting.

We don’t just paint anymore.

We answer enquiries.
We create social media content.
We edit photos.
We market ourselves.
We do admin.
We manage bookings.
We chase invoices.
We buy supplies.
We keep learning new designs and techniques.

Sometimes the actual painting is the easiest part.

I think one of the biggest causes of burnout in our industry is that people only see the few hours at an event and not everything that happens behind the scenes.

Anyone else feel like they’re running a marketing agency, customer service desk, and face painting business all at the same time? 🎨

A little reminder for fellow creators...
Lately, I've felt a bit worn down by the pressure that seems to come with running a creative business these days.
Post more.
Make reels.
Follow trends.
Show up every day.
Grow your audience.
Become an influencer.
And somewhere along the way, it's easy to forget why we started.

I didn't become a face painter to chase algorithms, win awards, or spend my days creating content about creating content.
I became a face painter because I love bringing joy to people. I love seeing children and adults light up when they look in the mirror. I love the creativity, the connection, and the magic of transforming a face into something special.

Awards are lovely.
Big followings are great.
Recognition feels good.
But they are not the reason our work matters.
Your value as a creator is not measured by your follower count, your reel views, or how often you post.
If you're out there doing what you love, serving your clients well, making people smile, and building a business you're proud of, you're already succeeding.

So if anyone else is feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to be everything at once-creator, marketer, videographer, influencer, editor, trend expert-this is your reminder:
Keep your eyes on the prize.
Remember why you started.
The people you serve are more important than the algorithm.
And the work itself is still worth celebrating.

You don't need to be an influencer to be influential. The joy you bring to your clients is enough ❤️

Social media has been one of the biggest tools in helping me grow my face painting business, connect with clients, and meet incredible artists. But like many people, I’ve also experienced the less positive side of being online.

After taking some time away, I’m returning with a reminder that there is a real person behind every profile. A few kind words can make someone’s day, while negativity can have a bigger impact than we sometimes realise.

Let’s continue building a creative community that supports, encourages, and inspires. ✨

This year marks 20 years in the face painting industry 🎨💖

Two decades of painting tiny tigers, magical butterflies, superheroes, princesses, festival faces and creating special memories for families and events. What started as a passion grew into a career I genuinely love, and I still feel incredibly grateful every time I pick up a brush.

Over the years I’ve had the privilege not only of working with amazing clients, but also of teaching face painting masterclasses, delivering demos, and sharing skills and knowledge with other artists too. Supporting creativity and helping others grow in this industry is something I’m hugely passionate about.

Twenty years in, I’m still learning, still creating, and still absolutely in love with what I do.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way — clients, event organisers, fellow artists, students and followers. You’re all part of this journey and I appreciate every one of you 💕

✨ A little reminder , what this page is really about ✨

For me, face painting has always been about creating magic, confidence, laughter, and unforgettable memories for children and families. 🎨💖

Behind every design is years of practice, ongoing training, professional products, insurance, prep time, cleaning, admin, travel, and a genuine passion for what I do.

I’ll always continue sharing educational content for both clients and artists because I believe our industry deserves professionalism, respect, and kindness.

There’s room for all of us to succeed without tearing each other down. 💕

To everyone who supports my work, books my services, shares my posts, and cheers me on — thank you. Your support means more than you know.

Now… back to the colourful chaos, sparkles, and smiling faces ✨🌈

One of my favourite things about face painting isn’t just the design itself — it’s matching it to you ✨

Your outfit, your vibe, your colours… they all tell a story, and I love bringing that story onto your skin. Whether it’s soft florals to match a summer dress, bold lines for an edgy look, or something playful to complement your festival outfit — every design becomes that little bit more special when it feels like you.

Face paint isn’t just art… it’s an extension of your style 💫

Next time you sit in my chair, don’t be surprised if I’m eyeing up your outfit for inspiration 🤩
