FOCUS ON POLAND – THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL WEEKEND
Over three days and seven events, Leamington Music’s "Focus on Poland" Festival Weekend brought audiences together at the Royal Pump Rooms and Polish Centre to celebrate Polish music, culture and the connections between our communities.
It was a special way to begin Leamington Music’s twentieth anniversary celebrations.
Friday’s opening concert by the Ćwiżewicz Brothers included the world première of 'Redyk' by Daria Dobrochna Kwiatkowska, commissioned especially for the Festival by Leamington Music. Hearing a new work come to life was a memorable beginning to the weekend.
Saturday brought Łukasz Krupiński’s piano recital, Professor John Rink’s exploration of the genius of Chopin, and an evening of Polish and British music with the Royal String Quartet.
On Sunday, Krystyna Osostowicz and Łukasz Krupiński performed together for the first time in a collaboration created for the Festival. Karolina Węgrzyn and her band shared Polish folk music with a sold-out audience at the Polish Centre, before the Royal String Quartet and Łukasz Krupiński closed the weekend with Górecki and Schumann.
We were honoured to welcome Ambassador of Republic of Poland Rafał Wiśniewski and his wife Aneta to Friday’s opening, alongside the Vice Lord-Lieutenant and High Sheriff of Warwickshire, the Chairs of Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council, the Mayors of Royal Leamington Spa and Kenilworth, and fellow councillors, civic guests and community representatives.
Our heartfelt thanks go to our partners, the Polish Centre and Belveder, for their collaboration, hospitality and work in bringing people together.
We are grateful to the Polish Cultural Institute in London, Royal Leamington Spa Town Council, Warwickshire County Council, The Event Business and Steinway & Sons for supporting the Festival, and to Warwick District Council and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London for their support with the opening celebrations.
To every artist, volunteer, member of staff and supporter who contributed: thank you for your time, care and hard work.
And to our audiences, thank you for listening, discovering something new and sharing this weekend with us. The music was at the heart of the Festival, and your presence made it a celebration.
