Happy New Year you lovely bunch! ✨

The snowy (and somewhat Arctic) conditions here have welcomingly forced a slower start to the year and the first full working week back and I’ve been spending it cosied up with cups of tea at my desk working away, while reflecting on last year and setting some intentions for the year ahead!

I can’t thank everyone enough from couples to fellow suppliers and even the lovely guests I had the pleasure of working with last year, you fuel my excitement, joy and love for my little business!

2025 was a lot, in so many of the best ways as well as some tough times personally too, definitely filled with all the feelings! You all make me feel so lucky though that I get to do this (“get to” is a phrase I’m trying to use more - mindset is so powerful), so I’m going to let 2026 be the year of gratitude, all the fun, trying new things, visiting new places, meeting with all the lovely people and whole lot of wedding planning! 🤍

4 years ago today at the stunning the utterly adorable Brittany and Ben FINALLY got their wedding day! (Covid had a LOT to answer for!!) The bonus was that I got to spend even more time planning with Brittany and had the most fun (planning over brunch is absolutely the way forward!)

Their day was the epitome of classic elegance with lots of twinkly candlelight - perfect for an Autumn day in Scotland!

BRIDE ERA LOADING…

September has been the biggest highlight of 2025 - my soulmate and high school sweetheart (the photo is from 2000!) proposed and I said yes (obviously!!!) Today, 18 years ago, I launched Rebecca Barnett Weddings. On a side note, how is that even possible, I’m only 25 right?! But as I sit here in the midst of wedding admin and having just finished my 18th summer of weddings, I can’t help but think back to the fairly naive 22 year old, with a dream, a sort of plan and so much hope that maybe, just maybe I could create something special.

If I could go back these past 18 years and tell my younger self one thing, it would be this: be yourself and be patient! (Not one of my strongest qualities!)

Building a business is a process, some may get there quicker than others and that’s ok, they aren’t on the same journey as you. I have learnt so much over the last 18 years about weddings, business in general and myself. I still feel like a newbie at times (impostor syndrome anyone?) and every time I am lucky enough for a couple to choose me to be a part of their story, I still think to myself “really? me?!” the honour of being chosen to help plan a couple’s wedding is never lost on me!

When I relaunched Rebecca Barnett Weddings a couple of years ago, I decided instead of making it something I thought it “should” be and thought people would like (it can be exhausting trying to “fit in”) I created something that reflected me and who I am and it’s the best business decision I ever made.

It has been some journey! Thankfully, I have been lucky enough to work with the most wonderful people, both couples and suppliers. It has taken me to all corners of Scotland and everywhere in between and I have had some of the best experiences because of it!

A million thank yous to every single person who has been a part of the last 18 years of RBW, you have literally made my dream come true and I am so soo excited for the weddings and fun that lie ahead, I can’t wait!

Also, can we please take a minute to appreciate that the 1st of the month has landed on a Monday - so satisfying!

Happy New Year from my little corner of the internet! I hope you have had a chance to have some much needed rest over the holidays (2024 was crazy, right?!) Anyway, 2025 - let’s do this!

I love the freshness of the New Year (mainly because I can buy new inserts for my planner - although I am pretty tech savvy, I do love putting pen to paper! Journaling board anyone?!) and looking ahead to what’s in store for the next 12 months.
