✨ Meet the Couple | Andy & Rebecca ✨
As we celebrate 15 years of Old Oak Farm this week, it feels only right that we start our Meet the Team series with the two people who started it all! 🤍
Some of our team have been with us right from the very beginning, while others have joined us along the way — but before there was a team, there was Andy & Rebecca… and a marquee in a field! 🌿
So, to kick off our 15-year celebrations, let’s introduce you to the husband-and-wife team behind Old Oak Farm.
Meet Andy & Rebecca — the owners, the founders and, in many ways, the perfect example of chalk and cheese! 😂
Their journey with Old Oak Farm began in 2011, following their own wedding here on the farm. What started with a marquee, a wedding and an idea has grown over the past 15 years into the venue you see today.
But the pair bring very different things to the table…
🌿 Meet Andy
Andy’s connection to Old Oak Farm goes back much further than the wedding venue itself. Although he didn’t leave school to work on this farm, he spent a lot of his childhood here with his Grandad, back when it was still a working farm — so the land and farming have always been a big part of his life.
When Andy left school at just 15 years old, he went on to work in agriculture and decided to further his skills and went on to attain his tree-surgery qualifications and certificates before starting his own business at just 17 years old. Over the next nearly 25 years, Andy built up an established tree-surgery business of his own — until eventually, he decided to wind that side of the business down to be able to spend more time developing Old Oak Farm.
But trees and gardening aren't where Andy's talents stop…
Andy has a fantastic creative eye, particularly when it comes to using reclaimed materials and creating things that look like they have been here for years. He has a real knack for taking something old, giving it a new purpose and making it look as though it has always belonged at Old Oak Farm.
In fact, Rebecca often jokes that she's pretty sure Andy was alive in Roman times — which might explain his love of making things look like they have a few hundred years of history behind them! 😂
And if there’s a new project, a new building, a new development or something that could potentially make Old Oak Farm even better, there’s a very good chance Andy has already thought of it.
Andy is very much the ideas man.
🤍 Meet Rebecca
Rebecca’s background has always been rooted in design, hospitality and creating beautiful spaces.
After achieving all A’s and A*’s in her GCSEs, Rebecca went on to study 3D Design at Somerset College of Arts & Technology, where she discovered her passion for interior design.
Alongside her studies, Rebecca worked as a waitress and bartender at a number of local establishments, learning the foundations of hospitality and, importantly, how to look after people and create an experience they remember.
And if that wasn’t enough, during her studies and right up until she and Andy formed Old Oak Farm, Rebecca also had an agent and worked as an actress and model whenever work was available. 🎬✨
While acting and modelling were an exciting part of her life at the time, Rebecca ultimately chose to steer her career in a different, more stable direction, pursuing her passion for weddings, design and hospitality — and we think it’s fair to say she made a pretty good career choice! 🤍
And this is perhaps where the chalk and cheese really comes in…
Although they work very much as a team, they each have their own roles within Old Oak Farm.
Andy is the driving force behind the new ideas and developments. He’s the one constantly looking at what could be done next, coming up with new projects and then, more often than not, getting stuck in and physically doing a lot of the work himself!
He’s also still very much involved with our couples, undertaking around 50% of our initial venue visits, so you may well meet Andy before you ever meet the rest of the team.
Rebecca, meanwhile, is the one planning and running the events. She manages the accounts, plans the weddings, oversees the day-to-day running of the business and works closely with our couples and the team to make sure everything comes together.
They have very different strengths, but they both get stuck in wherever they’re needed. That’s what has made the partnership & Old Oak Farm so successful over the past 15 years.
From that very first marquee to the venue, accommodation and developments we have today, Old Oak Farm has been built, shaped and continually evolved by the two of them.
And although there is now a fantastic team behind the day-to-day running of the venue, both Rebecca and Andy remain very hands-on — just in very different ways!
15 years, countless projects, plenty of ideas, and one shared vision later… Old Oak Farm is still thriving and is very much a family affair.
So, that’s the couple behind it all.
Rebecca & Andy — chalk and cheese, but somehow the perfect team. 🤍🌿
Keep an eye out as we introduce you to the rest of the team who have helped make the last 15 years so special… ✨
