Part 10 ♻️ Ever wondered how waste turns into energy at Rabbit Waste Management?
Let’s step back inside the process… 🔍
🔥 Bag Filter Unit
The bag filter unit, also known as a baghouse filter, plays a vital role in the back-end flue gas treatment system.
Its job is to clean the flue gases before they are released to atmosphere via the stack by removing particulate matter, fly ash and associated pollutants.
Inside the unit are 672 individual filter bags, each measuring 5020mm long x 127mm diameter. These filter socks are made from 770gsm woven glass with a PTFE membrane, designed to withstand high temperatures and challenging conditions.
As the gas passes through the filter media, fine particles are captured on the surface of the bags, while the cleaned gas continues through the system.
Reagents such as activated carbon and sodium bicarbonate are injected upstream to help capture heavy metals, dioxins, furans and acidic gases including HCl and SO₂.
The collected powder, known as APCr, Air Pollution Control Residue, is pulsed off the filter socks using compressed air, then moved through screw augers into disposal bags for specialist off-site treatment.
A crucial part of keeping the process clean, controlled and compliant ♻️🐰
