🍓🥭🍌 SMOOTHIE MAKERS! 🥝🍓🍍

At Indigo, we think it’s important to help children understand nutrition and healthy choices, in a fun, creative and engaging way. We encourage children to try new things, discover new flavours and step outside their comfort zones, without healthy food ever feeling boring! What better way to explore all of this than by making smoothies? 😋

Working in teams, our children had to share ideas, listen to each other, compromise and make decisions together. They experimented with different fruits and flavours, planned their group smoothie, gave their team a name and even came up with a name for their creation!

Then came the really important bit… testing and tasting! Some discovered new fruits they loved, some created flavour combinations they hadn’t expected to enjoy, and some bravely pushed themselves to try something completely new. 🍓🍍🥝

Along the way, they developed teamwork, communication, creativity, decision-making, confidence and independence, all while discovering that healthy can also mean absolutely delicious! 💚

At Indigo, we love activities that draw children in, spark enthusiasm and give them opportunities to CREATE, EXPLORE, THINK and BE THEMSELVES. 💜

👗✨ DESIGN IT CREATE IT WEAR IT! ✨👖

A little look back at one of our favourite creative days from holiday club! 💜

Our morning started with FABRIC DESIGN, where the children chose their own fabric project — from T-shirts to tote bags, drawstring bags to pencil cases, baseball caps to tea towels, there was something to suit everyone!

In the afternoon, things got a little more adventurous! ♻️ Working in mixed-age teams, the children were challenged to turn recycled and junk materials into their own fashion creations before taking to the catwalk! 👗🎵🧣🧢👑👠🪭👓👒💼

What might look like a day of simply making and having fun actually develops so many important skills:

🎨 Creativity & imagination - generating ideas and expressing individuality
🧠 Creative thinking & problem-solving - experimenting, adapting and finding solutions
🤝 Teamwork & communication - sharing ideas, listening and working together
✋ Fine motor skills & coordination - cutting, joining, drawing and constructing
💪 Confidence & self-expression - taking pride in their ideas and having the confidence to showcase them
♻️ Sustainability - discovering that everyday discarded materials can become something completely new
🌈 Mixed-age learning - learning from one another and recognising that everyone has something valuable to contribute

We love activities where there isn’t one ‘right’ answer. Children are free to experiment, make choices, take creative risks and turn an idea in their head into something they can actually see, hold and proudly show off!

💜 At Indigo, we don’t just ask children to follow instructions and make the same thing. We give them opportunities to CREATE, EXPLORE, THINK and BE THEMSELVES.

And just like that… our Summer Holiday Club has come to an end. 💖

Four weeks of Indigo, four weeks of creativity, fun, laughter, friendships, new experiences, big imaginations and SO many happy faces.
We honestly don’t know where the time has gone. 🕰️😲

From painting and making to music, movement, mindfulness, team games, amazing guest workshops, messy activities, new challenges and all of the little moments in between, we have packed so much into these four weeks. And whilst Friday may have been our last day, we still have SO much of our summer to share with you. There are hundreds of photos, videos and special little moments that haven’t even made it onto social media yet!

Before we get carried away sharing everything, we just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you to all of our wonderful parents and carers for choosing Indigo for your children’s holidays and for giving us the opportunity to make their summer a little bit more special. We know how precious these years are, and it really is a privilege to spend our days with your children, watching their confidence grow, seeing them try something new, listening to their stories and watching them proudly show us what they’ve made.

Thank you to the amazing Indigo team (not all pictured, this was just the Friday team). I genuinely couldn’t do it without you! Thank you for bringing so much energy, enthusiasm, patience, creativity and fun to every single day. For getting stuck in, joining in with the silliness, encouraging the children, helping them when things didn’t quite go to plan and for making every day what it was. You’ve been brilliant. 🫶🏼

Thank you to all of our wonderful guest workshop leaders who have given the children so many opportunities to try something different and experience things they might not otherwise have had the chance to do. We are so grateful for every one of you. 🙏🏻

Our biggest thank you has to go to our Indigo children! You really are a very special bunch. 💖 Thank you for bringing your imaginations, your personalities, your enthusiasm and your wonderful little selves through our doors every morning. We have loved watching you create, explore, laugh, make friends, try new things, sometimes get things wrong and have another go. You have made us laugh, made us proud and given us so many memories that we will take away from this summer. You are all absolute superstars! 🌟

Finally, we also have to say a huge thank you to Caton Primary School for welcoming us into your sports hall and stunning outdoor space. We have absolutely loved being there. It is such a brilliant and beautiful space for Indigo - somewhere we can create, move, play, make a mess, try new things and give the children the freedom to be themselves. It really does feel like a place that fits Indigo perfectly. 👌🏼
So, that’s Summer 2026 - Four weeks that have gone far too quickly! So many wonderful children. ✨ So many brilliant people 🙌 AND so, so many memories. 🥰

Thank you for being part of it with us, we’ve absolutely loved every minute. ❤️

And although we’re a little bit sad that our summer has come to an end… we’re already looking forward to seeing everyone again for October Half Term! 🍂🎨

🦉🦅🐝 ☀️WHAT A DAY! ☀️🐝🦅🦉

Yesterday was another huge day at Indigo Arts & Crafts Holiday Club, as the children got up close with some VERY special visitors!

We had an incredible birds of prey experience with Northern Falconry who brought Goose the harris’ hawk, Buttons the barn owl and Dave the little owl, for the children to meet, greet and learn all about as well as being treated to a fantastic flying demonstration!

We also enjoyed an interactive beekeeping session with Claver Hill Beekeekers, which saw the children role play honeybees, dress up as a beekeeper, taste honey, pollen and honeycomb, make badges and bug hotels and get up close and personal with a practise hive - two completely different experiences, but both packed with fascinating things to see, learn and discover with lots of creative activities built into them.

Thank you to all our visitors today, we had a truly incredible day! 🥰

🎬✨ From a humble bread box to the Vue Cinema!

Our amazing young creators have been busy bringing their imaginations to life through junk modelling, creating incredible 3D scenes from recycled materials. This one even has its own screening of Minions vs Monsters, cinema seats AND a fire exit! 🍿🎥

We absolutely loved seeing the thought, creativity and attention to detail that went into every single creation. 💙

🧘‍♀️✨ The children have been busy making… YOGA POSES! ✨🧘‍♂️

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Yoga Buddies to Indigo Arts & Crafts Holiday Club for a very special children’s yoga session and what a wonderful session it was! 💜

This wasn’t just about learning yoga poses. The children explored their feelings and, in a fun and accessible way, discovered some lovely tools and strategies to help them recognise, understand and manage those emotions when they pop up. 🌈

There was movement, mindfulness, breathing, laughter, plenty of fabulous yoga positions and lots of opportunities for the children to simply be themselves. 🥰

Turns out Chas didn’t just inspire the children… 🎨😄

Some of our lucky Indigo staff team couldn’t resist getting involved too! A wonderfully relaxing, creatively invigorating day and we’ve all got our own masterpieces to take home.

Thanks again, Chas, for inspiring the artist in all of us! 💛🖌️
