What a day! Sunshine, farm, making sourdough in a gorgeous location whilst being interspersed with cups of coffee and tea. My kind of dream day out.

This is Lochaber Farm, just outside St.Andrews, and I had the chance to spend the day with Kat, who is head baker of this Fife-based artisan bakery. They run sourdough classes here, which notably sell out fast (and no wonder), but you couldn't pick a more picturesque location to learn about sourdough. This woman knows her stuff, and their bread is sold in some of the best foodie venues in Fife.

I came away armed with bread and starters to carry on this adventure at home and an utter need for the nifty tool the 'lame'.

Lads and I have nearly polished one of the loaves already- yuuuuuuuummmm....... Just hoping she has an SOS line for when I make my first batch without her 🤟😂

March KT@Home Menu LIVE!

Howdy folks. Here's this month's menu available for collection or delivery on Thursday 20th March.

Our jars of fun - Chilli Garlic 'crisp' oil . £7 a jar. This is spicy, garlicky crispy, crunchy and great drizzled on eggs, sandwiches, noodles...anything . No yuck stuff in it.
Hazelnut dark chocolate spread £7. Rammed with roasted hazelnuts, oozing with dark chocolate, sweetened with real sugar and a little salt and vanilla to balance. Even your kids can get a bit in the morn..maybe 💪

Wild venison ragu chestnuts and kale- marinaded, slow cooked til tender in a red wine and herbs with nutty chestnuts and crispy kale. £14 for two portions

Root Veggie Gratin - part baked to be finished at home. The humble potato, squash, parsnip and leek layered in a thyme garlic, Dijon cream sauce with strong cheese and a sprinkling of breadcrumbs. Yum on its own or with salad or match up with the venison. £9 for two portions

Apple Brown Betty - a gentle, homely take on apple crumble using a crispy breadcrumb topping. This fellow has almonds in the topping too plus dates with the apples. £8 for a tray for two portions.

Mini Citrus Cheesecakes - my son's requested birthday 'cake' but in individual portions. 2 for 7 or buy as many as you need.

All dishes can be frozen. The jars of fun can be stored in pantry or fridge.

To order DM or email ([email protected]). We will be open for two hours for collection on Thursday 20th February or we can delivery locally but get in touch to discuss.

Cheers

Sam

Hello folks, I've been drafting this announcement in my head for months, but it's time to share the news. As of May this year, The Kitchen Treasury will no longer be trading from our beloved space in Hunter Street.

This journey has been a whirlwind adventure, and an incredibly personal experience for myself, Darren, and my boys. From finding the space during a particularly tough time, to carefully curating every detail, we worked hard in creating a space that people would feel like they were stepping into our home. Or sitting round my kitchen table..

I'm so grateful to have had the freedom to cook, create, and share my love of food and have been so touched by the people that have come through doors regularly whilst we opened as a cafe, at our supper clubs and for our KT@home customers.

While it's hard to say goodbye, I'm proud of what we've built together. Thanks so much to Darren who helped me visualise my dream and be the rock that he is. To Meg and Amanda who have worked with me (that ain't easy folks 😵‍💫🙈🫨) . For James, who built our rad kitchen, when it really was a shell of a room with a window.

But cheese, or not , it is to all of you that took a chance on a small business and have been a character in all of this. I've loved getting to know you. I've loved memorising random food facts about you too. For all of you that have stepped through the door, thank you❤️

Our March supper clubs are nearly full, we also will have a March KT@home this month. We are considering an event in April, but will you keep you posted.

Lots of love and thanks,

Sam x

Flipping Fabulous February fandango.

It's grey outside and occasionally hailing. Let's brighten up the grey with some chilled evenings in...

We have been eating trays of fish pie, lasagne, slow cooker chicken and rice dishes and hearty soups. Currently living for loungey weekends hence this month's KT@Home menu.

Our dips this month are: RANCH - a California standby for dunking/drizzling on ANYTHING- (like a pimped up chive and onion dip!).
SATAY - made with all the Thai classics in a peanut-y coconut spicy gingery addictive-y classic. Warm this with some plain noodles and suddenly you are cosy but slam it on a bit of toast with fried halloumi or smoked tofu and you can be hip, slather it over grilled chicken and you have yourself a super quick main.(£7 a jar)

Mac 'n' Cheese w/roasted peppers. One of our bestsellers in our cafe and on picky plates. Creamy decadence, heavy on the cheese and cream, garlicky, roasted red peppers and carblicous macaroni. Can be frozen for another time.. (£9 for two great portions)

Italian pork and beef meatloaf. Will come in a loaf tin baked. Can be frozen. Slice and eat with mash in a toastie or straight in your gob. Basil, sun-dried tomatoes, pancetta and cheese lighten this failsafe fridge and freezer saviour. Chop up small and add to tomato sauce and you have gangster meatballs. Just sayin'👊 (loaf can feed 6 generous slices ..£12)

Apple and cinnamon bread and butter pudding. Mouthful but great for lazy brunch vibes or hearty pudding. £8 for tray for two great portions

Smug nut muesli bars- these are nutty, seedy, tahini, chocolate-y bars made with oats, and maple syrup. Our current favourite post lunch dip snack ..£9 for 4 bad boys.

Order via DM or email [email protected] and collect from KT on Friday February 28th (or we can deliver for a fee). Allergens and instructions are given the night before but if you want to know any ingredients before ordering just ask!

Xx

This is one of my food heroes. My dad.

He died nearly three years ago but when I sip my coffee, now black, like he had it, I sometimes stop and think of him.

He loved roast chicken, potato dauphinoise, dark chocolate, mutton curry, boiled tongue, lemon tart and cabbage. Middle Eastern lamb dishes, digestives thickly spread with butter and topped with thick cheddar. Cherry cake and pickled beetroot with corned beef. The weakest tea in history and the darkest black coffee. The richest heaviest red wine and the lightest cleanest white wine.

He always tried things I made when I was training to be a chef and supported me on some of the more craziest of catering jobs. He had enormous hands and I hadn't thought of that whilst tasking him to peel parboiled quails eggs 😂

When I make certain dishes or need inspiration for a menu it's great if the client can tell me what they do or don't like as it takes me down a wee path. Sometimes even making a certain dish reminds me of someone and all the better it is too.

What are the dishes that remind you of your loved ones ?

Here's to a good week ahead ❤️

⚠️Important Update: January Supper Clubs Postponement!!!!!

🟥Due to the red weather warning issued for Fife we have made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming supper clubs this weekend. The safety of our guests and team is our top priority, and we don't want to take any risks with the suggested severe weather conditions and I'm guessing chaotic blooming public transport options.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will contact all guests individually ( or feel free to DM us) and find out whether you want to reschedule or have tickets refunded. Thank you for your understanding.

I'm away out to grab booze and sand bags as have an almighty fear that our trampoline will be ricocheting down the town soon!

Love Sam x
