Wishing a Happy World Tutor’s Day to all the amazing tutors I have met since I
started the Little Learning Shed 4 years ago. To me tutoring is the best job in the world , all the good parts of being a teacher , plus the opportunity to impact on each child in the way they need.

I don’t know about you but personally, this time of year shows me the impact tutoring has on children’s progress, as I get to see the achievements of my pupils through exam results, SATs scores and school reports. In the past few days I have been so proud of what my students have achieved since this time last year. Keep on doing what you’re doing guys… I’m there cheering for you and helping you to continue your brilliant progress!

I am always telling my students (and their parents) about the importance of reading. The picture below shows I practice what I preach - these are the books I read in January this year.

Reading is the key to success in all areas of the curriculum, it is the key that unlocks learning. If you want you child to succeed then encourage them to read daily, there are a huge range of books available for all ages, stages of reading and different interests - it doesn’t matter if they will only read comics or information books all reading us important for developing a wide vocabulary, understanding the structure of language and helps with spelling too. Foster a love of books , read to them too, from birth, be a role model and let them see you reading as well. You are helping them to reach their academic potential by getting them
