How to deal with rain on your wedding day 🌧️✨

Yeah, the thought is a little frightening and frankly, a change in weather is never what we wish for! But at UNV, we're always prepared for the every outcome. So here are our top tips for embracing the weather at any of our venues...

☔ Be prepared - pack a clear umbrella (or several) to take out with you for portraits and group shots. They'll keep you dry for the most part, and can be removed or kept in the photos depending on your preference.

🩴 Footwear matters - it never hurts to bring a spare pair of shoes along with you. Whether they be wedding wellies or a fresh pair of stylish stilettos, that's entirely up to you!

📸 Trust your photo & video team - moody skies and soft light can lead to stunning images! Just ask any professional and they'll tell you the same thing.

🏛️ Backup plans - our portfolio of venues have so many gorgeous indoor spaces to enjoy, that we believe as just as impressive as the exterior of our venues. So be realistic about the weather, and choose a venue with an indoor space that you love just as much as the outdoor.

❤️ Embrace it - what more can we say? Getting upset about the weather is understandable, but also changes nothing! So we encourage you to enjoy your day no matter what the sun has to say for itself.

Here at UNV, we're team cake cut 🍰🔪 and we want to rectify the bad rep it's had over the past few years!

So we're here to tell you how to take the awkwardness out of it, and turn it into a moment you'll remember as one of the most enjoyable parts of your day.

🖤 Make it a focal point
A good place to start with a memorable cake cutting, is a memorable cake itself, and a memorable setting for it to happen in. We have so many recommended cake artists in our brochure that would help make your visions come to life.

🖤 Do it with confidence
Avoid that confusing "where do we cut??" question to your guests during the crucial moment itself by simply asking your cake artist, or your planner, in advance on WHERE best to slice. Doing your prep will definitely lead to a more seamless slice.

🖤 Remember to have fun with it
Don't be afraid to be silly and to have a giggle with your spouse in the moment. By all means, get that slick and elegant photo first, but remember to also chat and laugh with each other like you normally would. You could even throw in a cheeky interaction - like feeding each other a piece or a playful dab of frosting on the nose - but agree on whatever it is beforehand. Absolutely NO smushing in faces!

🖤 Finally, soak up the applause
When you've finished with the knife, place it down beside the cake & embrace a couple more seconds in the spotlight for your photographer and guests. Maybe share a kiss, or raise a toast - however you choose to do it, don't just shuffle off. Ending the cake cut on a note that acknowledges those around you will make the transition into the next part of your wedding much more seamless.

They'll be there for you in the build up, yes. But they're also there for you on the day. Co-ordinating your timings & communicating with your suppliers, our planners not only take care of the logistics - but they're quite literally behind you, having your back & fanning the train of your dress, every time you need them to be.
