23 years married today 😱❤️
Every year on our anniversary I share a few wedding photos and have a wee laugh at them.
Looking back, our wedding photography was very much of its time. Lots of posing, lots of being told where to stand, and yes... the photographer even made Mark stand on a step so he'd look taller than me 😂
I was never happy with my photos
My mum died just six months after our wedding, and the photographs I treasure now are the handful of natural ones that friends and family happened to take during the day. They're not perfect. They're not technically amazing. Some are blurry, some are badly framed, but they captured people being themselves.
Those photographs mean more to me now than any perfectly posed portrait ever could.
It's probably one of the reasons I photograph weddings the way I do. Of course I'll get the family groups and the couple photos, but I'm always looking for the moments in between too. The laughs, the hugs, the tears, and the people you love simply enjoying being together.
Because 23 years later, that's what matters.
Sometimes wedding photographs become more than wedding photographs. Sometimes they become memories of people who are no longer here, and moments you'll never get back.
Happy anniversary to us ❤️
