Wedding costs, explained! πŸ’•βœ¨

This is coming to you from a wedding planner and a woman who also knows that she will never be able to afford a wedding...

So I see it from both sides and I feel your pain πŸ˜‚

I understand the frustration of looking for wedding inspiration and getting your heart set on certain flowers, decor, venues, food...

Only to get a quote back and realise it costs a fortune.

But I don't think the problem is with the supplier, or the couple.

It's that our expectations don't align with reality 😬

So why ARE weddings so expensive?!

The "standard" wedding stuff you are seeing - the aisle meadows, the floral arches, the drapes, the cakes - they're not actually standard things.

These are not typical weddings made on a typical budget.

These have always been for a more luxurious market. Perfect for those who have more to spend. Aspirational for people who maybe don't.

So if you are expecting all of this for not a lot of cash, it's a square peg and a round hole situation.

Don't forget what a luxury it is to have someone grow, design and sculpt your flowers. To bake, design and decorate your cake to the highest standard. To have professional quality photos edited in an artistic way.

We've just become a little disillusioned with images of plentiful, abundant weddings that we sometimes forget what can be done on a typical, more achievable wedding budget.

So don't feel bad if that's happened to you! πŸ’•

And please reach out if you need advice on how to plan a wedding you will love on a realistic budget ✨

In case you were wondering what the process is for booking an on-the-day wedding co-ordinator, or what exactly it entails...
.. let me show you how we do it at WWP! ✨

Enquiries usually come through our website, where you can download our Introductory Guide. If you want to get straight to it, book a call directly through our Calendly. Emails & DMs are also welcome!

A quick call or Zoom helps us to understand what you are looking for, and we love to hear what you have planned. We can also answer your questions and explain what we do a little better 🫢

It's SUPER important to me that we have chance to meet face-to-face before the day. Whether it be a venue visit, a site visit to sense-check your DIY plans, or just a cup of a coffee in town to make sure everything is on track. It matters to me that I get to know you a little (and it makes everything a LOT less awkward!) πŸ’•

I'll never leave you hanging until the day starts looming nearer. I'm in your corner from the minute you book, because that's how I think it should be!

Our final catch-up call happens about a month before your wedding. Give me timings, details and we'll draw up my to-do list! I'll reach out to all of your suppliers, too, just to make sure we're all on the same page πŸ‘Œ

Then it's just the small matter of the wedding day itself...
We're with you at the times that suit you best. It's mostly about looking after you guys, your guests, liaising with suppliers, and checking that everything runs the way you want it to. But we're not afraid to get stuck in!

We do have some availability left in 2026 and 2027 is filling up too!
Drop us a message or head to our website if you need a little help on your wedding day πŸ’•

So I told you about the things that give me anxiety about weddings...

Now here are the things that I DON'T care about as a wedding planner ✨

To me, in life and in weddings, it's never about being "perfect". And everything doesn't revolve around being pretty, sorry not sorry πŸ˜‚

So my profile isn't a flawless depiction of life as a wedding planner. I'm not put together 24/7. I don't care about this any more (or at least I try not to).

I do at least make an effort for your wedding! But I also come prepared to be on my feet for 15 hours and ready to throw myself into any situation. I feel like that's what a good co-ordinator should do?! Sometimes I'm hot and sweaty, or soaked to the bone. I don't care if I look a hot mess by the end. Better me than you!

I also don't care for the person who said that I have a duty to be immaculate 24/7. I'm doing my best hun, okay?! 🫠

I definitely don't care about winning awards. I don't care about the big wedding shows. I've also never been bothered by celebrity weddings.

I just want to meet real people, work on your beautiful weddings, and do what it takes to make sure you have the BEST day you can πŸ’•

Sometimes the beauty is in the messy moments. The top buttons that come undone, the hair that falls loose, the empty plates. Perfection is overrated. I don't care for weddings that feel too clean and pristine. I want them to feel human and cosy and natural and lovely. And I want YOU to live in the moment too 🫢

We have spaces for weddings in 2026 & 2027 if you're looking for a planner or co-ordinator ✨

Today was launch day for , and what a way to spend it! ✨

Jennifer had a fabulous idea for a styled shoot at her new venue, so with her knowledge of brilliant local suppliers along with my expertise in weddings (and armed with my trusty schedule πŸ˜‚), I think we all created something pretty wonderful.

The focus was on seasonality, sustainability, and showing the best of what the Three Counties have to offer. A taste of homely, intimate weddings in the hills of rural Worcestershire.

An outdoor wedding ceremony, a bespoke wedding dress, a table styled with fresh, local produce, exquisite plates of locally-sourced food, the best Herefordshire and Shropshire drinks... followed by a post-wedding picnic with food platters, vintage styling and a sparkling wine from a vineyard just two miles down the road πŸ₯‚

An incredible effort from everyone involved! And a truly amazing team of people to work with πŸ’•

Thanks so much to everyone involved, and we can't wait to see more weddings in future at Yarhampton House!

Let's just stop for a moment, and have an honest chat πŸ’•

I'm finding this job a lot at the moment.

Some people make it look so easy, but actually some of us are struggling to navigate the changing wedding world.

As things become more elaborate, more expensive, more inspirational, some of us are wondering what our place is.

We see the gulf between weddings that are being portrayed and the real life weddings that we want to be a part of, and it's actually quite terrifying.

And if we are not *those* sorts of people, and we are not putting out *that* sort of content, are we going to be left behind?

It's exhausting feeling like you may never be good enough, despite being bloody great at what you do.

I don't want to be a creator, or an influencer.
In my world, this is not how weddings should be.

I KNOW there are many suppliers who feel the same.

And I KNOW there are couples who feel it too. People who are overwhelmed, confused, and sick of all the bo****ks.

Some of us just want lovely, meaningful, REAL weddings.
Is that too much to ask?? βœ¨πŸ’•

So, for my own sanity, I am going to be doing things my own way. Honest, authentic content. Proper, meaningful weddings. Useful, genuine thoughts. Not keeping up with everyone else. Not comparing myself to others. Not caving in to this new normal (which doesn't feel normal at all).

And hoping I find my people! πŸ™πŸΌ
If that is you, please follow and know we are in this together πŸ˜‚πŸ’•

Ain't no wedding like a JQ wedding πŸ’•βœ¨

After spending my summer in marquees and fields, it was SO great to have a day last year where I basically got to hang out in the Jewellery Quarter with the coolest people and watch them celebrate the most awesome day.

I say "hang out". It is work. But it just doesn't really feel like it?!
