It’s been a little quiet on the flower front for me lately – not by choice, I promise! Life’s been full-on with assignments for my Level 4 Floristry course (who knew there’d be so much writing involved?), plus a few family bits and bobs that had to take priority. So, flowers had to take a bit of a back seat for a while.
But this week – finally – I managed to carve out a bit of time for me and oh, was it worth it! I had the absolute pleasure of attending a floristry workshop and evening demo with none other than Nicolaus Peters, the Interflora World Champion 2023, all the way from Germany. What a treat!
The day started with a hands-on workshop led by Nicolaus himself – it was such a joy to be creative again without the pressure of deadlines or expectations. Just flowers, fun, and learning from one of the best in the business. He was incredibly generous with his knowledge, and I left feeling both inspired and totally re-energised.
Later in the evening, Nikolaus gave a fascinating demonstration, chatting through his life, career, and what’s inspired him throughout his floristry journey. It was part floral theatre, part cosy chat – and completely captivating.
One of the best parts of the day? Catching up with so many lovely friends and floristry colleagues I hadn’t seen in ages. It’s always so lovely to reconnect, share stories, and see where everyone’s creative paths have taken them. We also got to enjoy some seriously stunning work in a Germany-themed competition – the entries on display were thought-provoking, beautiful, and such a great reminder of the talent that exists in our floristry world.
All in all, it was exactly the breath of fresh air I needed. A day filled with flowers, friendship, and inspiration – and just the nudge I needed to get back into my floral groove.
