Sometimes, the best plants are the ones we never planted at all. 🌸

Do you leave your self-seeded plants to grow, or are you a tidy gardener who likes everything in its place? 🌿
A seed that has naturally fallen and germinated has had to find its own way. No carefully prepared seed tray, no potting on, planting out … just nature doing what nature does best. 🌱

I often find that the self-seeded flowers are stronger, sturdier and beautifully adapted to growing here on the flower farm.

And the results are in….
Hi ! I’ve been busy testing a random selection of British foliage varieties in this very hot weather conditions to see how they perform and hold up.
And the results are in….
In joint 1st place, who held up in 30 degrees, over 8 hours of full sun (in water) followed by 4 hours without water ;
Sedum, Winter Honeysuckle and Periwinkle, Euonymus both variegated and green. Sedum looked like it had only just been harvested, the others were looking a bit jaded in the last couple of hours.
In 2nd place, These were happy in 30 degrees, over 8 hours of full sun (in water) but could not cope out of water at all; Japanese Anemone foliage, Privet with flower heads, Raspberry.
And in last place: Hellebore leaf that did not like the sun at all, so he’s best for indoor shaded work.
Important notes:
• This is not a scientific trial, just testing here on my own.
• Everything was conditioned well before the trial.
• Lots of other varieties are available 🌿☀
