What a wedding this was.

My first time photographing a wedding at Holbeck Ghyll, and honestly, I hope it won’t be the last. Dee and Yianni first got in touch a couple of years ago when they were planning something much smaller. I wasn’t available at the time, but I remember getting on with them straight away.

Fast forward, and Dee got back in touch to say the plan had changed slightly. The tiny wedding had become a full celebration at Holbeck Ghyll, with family, friends, music, flowers, dancing, Greek energy, Mediterranean touches and some of the best suppliers in the Lakes.

And it really did have everything.

An outdoor ceremony with rain in the forecast and wind threatening to make things interesting. Somehow, the weather held. Thank goodness, because there was so much riding on that ceremony being outside.

There was an owl ring bearer, a room that felt like walking into a forest, fresh flowers everywhere, and the most incredible scent of roses filling the space. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many flowers at a wedding.

Dee and Yianni met through dancing over 36 years ago, and after all that time, they finally got around to tying the knot. Watching them celebrate together, surrounded by the people who clearly adore them, was genuinely something special.

This is just a small preview for now, but there is so much more to come from this one.

Dee and Yianni, you absolute legends. I wish you both all the happiness in the world.

Still buzzing from this one.

Ginny and Henry said their “I do’s” at Lady Gillford’s House in Carlisle, and what a place it is. First time shooting here and it did not disappoint. Beautiful architecture, loads of character, and the perfect backdrop for a genuinely lovely couple.

I only spent a couple of hours with them, but it was one of those weddings where everything just felt easy. Close family, great atmosphere, and plenty of moments that made it a joy to photograph.

More to come from this day soon.

A proper Lake District winter elopement at Storrs Hall.

When I arrived the temperature was about 3°C, but with the wind coming straight off Windermere it felt closer to -10. I walked into the hotel and mentioned to the team at Storrs Hall how cold it was outside. They laughed and said everyone had been saying the same thing all afternoon.

Thanos and Gill had planned a really relaxed micro wedding with their two children. Just the four of them, a ceremony in the library, a glass of champagne afterwards and some time together by the lake.

Of course we had to go outside for photos. With snow sitting on the hills across Windermere the backdrop was just too good to miss. The wind was doing everything it could to freeze us and completely undo Gill’s hair, but they both just laughed and went with it.

The children eventually decided they’d had enough of the cold, which is completely fair in those temperatures, so they went back inside the hotel to warm up while we grabbed a few more photos outside.

Honestly, it was one of those really lovely afternoons. Small, relaxed, full of laughter and a reminder that weddings don’t need to be big to be meaningful.

Huge congratulations to you both.

Martin and Jo. What a day.

We met in Wasdale for a small, intimate wedding surrounded by their closest people. It was one of those days that felt big in all the right ways. Big on love. Huge on excitement.

We had spoken loads on the phone beforehand, but we had never actually met. So when Jo appeared at the top of the aisle in a green dress, I nearly missed her. I simply was not expecting it. Safe to say I clocked her just in time.

After their heartfelt I Do’s, we headed out into the valley for portraits with Great Gable standing proudly behind them. Wasdale means the world to these two. It is their place. The kind you return to again and again because it feels like home. The weather was, frankly, awful, but it held just enough for us to get those classic Lakeland frames.

We warmed up afterwards at Wasdale Inn with incredible food and even better company. Thank you both for that.

And then… the alpacas.
Martin and Jo adore them. Honestly, who doesn’t. They had arranged for us to visit a local farm and, amazingly, we were allowed into the field with them. It was chaos in the best way. The alpacas were a little unsure about our group at first, so we had to keep gently shifting position to bring them into the frame. Patience required.

Once everyone else headed off, I stayed behind for a few extra shots. That is when they decided I was acceptable. A few of them wandered very close. Close enough to give me a slight wobble. They are ridiculously cute, but also surprisingly bold when they want to be.

What an incredible day in a place that means so much to them.

If you are planning your wedding, my only advice is this. Incorporate alpacas.
