Anyone else feeling like autumn is here? 🙋

I've felt a definite shift this last week. The field is starting to slow down, but no such luck for us - there's flowers to cut, seeds to sow, beds to prep, perennials to plant and mulch to apply. And weeding, ALWAYS weeding.

This time of year is busy for the flowers and busy in life, with kids heading back to school, clubs starting up again, sheep sales and shows looming. Hanging on in there and trying to appreciate it all because in a few months time I'll be willing the flowers to be doing their thing again. 💐

The current favourite... (You all know I'm fickle...).

I've struggled with the timing of scabious in the past, but seem to have had a small win this year. This is Salmon Queen and she's so pretty- good enough to eat. Gorgeous when she's all out like this and a different vibe when it's just her frilly outer petals that have opened.

Looking back through these featured flowers, it would definitely seem I'm in my pink era! 🙈 Who would have ever thought....!

Sam & Simon 💐 09.08.25.
Sam is one of my oldest friends and sister-in-law. What a joy to be asked to make her bouquets and buttonholes. The brief was big, bright and as wild as you like. Every stem (bar one special one) grown right here on the farm where she grew up. A gorgeous day with gorgeous people and THE BEST sort of wedding. More photos to follow I'm sure. Might take me a little while to recover... 😬

Sometimes a bouquet just comes together and this one did. It's nice when that happens. A large gift bouquet from earlier in the week. Wish I had more of that pink poker statice to play with, rest assured it's on the notes for next year....

It's been a busy week and I've barely had time for photos. I did have to have one of Linda though (this is Linda). She's a babe. Pinky peachy tones and I wouldn't be without her. She's just getting into her stride so expect to see plenty more of Linda in the coming weeks 😉

Next week is booked out for a very special occasion, but I'll be back with flowers the week after, so let me know if you have any flowery needs... 🙂

What a week!

I sold every stem one way or another 🥹 You have no idea how grateful I am to all of you that order and/or follow along. It really does blow me away sometimes! Getting to have a go at this is a real privilege, something that I love and not something I take for granted one bit.

Thank you for following along 😘💐

A bucket of early summer for to arrange into jars and bottles for her wedding this weekend. The venue looked amazing and I hope they have partied hard!

Sophie provided a bucket to play with too and it was lovely to collaborate - they worked rather nicely together!

Cows in the background wondering what an earth I'm faffing around and doing 🙄

Stocks and snaps in abundance this week...All pretty in peach and pink. These have been a success and I would like to replicate again next year... Will I be so lucky?!

Ruler for my records... Stem length is important for my florists and while not the be all and end all I want to try and make sure I am consistent and be able to work out why something did well or didn't. I'm not so great at writing things down in the moment, but I do always have my phone in my back pocket so photos are my go to record keeper.

Why should you buy British flowers and what do they have that imported flowers might not?

Buying British, or even better, local flowers, means that you are supporting a local, usually small, business. You're thinking about where your flowers come from, and how many air miles they might have done to get to you.

You're getting a whole different selection than you would in the supermarket or many high street, chain florists. You're probably getting scent, texture and colour and maybe even a little hitchhiker or too because many British growers limit their use, or pledge not to use pesticides.

All sounds good to me!

One of the first ranunculus of my year and she is a beauty.

They really are so pretty. These have been creeping out in orders - just watch their gorgeousness unfold as they open in the vase. 😍
