When painting fast it’s so easy for me to fall into the trap of being over critical of what I paint. And well, great facepaint is, erm GREAT facepaint - the colours, the detail, the little finishing touches and we absolutely love all of that.

But at Doodlebug, we think there’s something just as important as the paint itself.

The connection.

The little chats, the giggles, the stories, the excitement of choosing a design and that moment in the mirror when their whole face lights up.

It’s making a shy child feel comfortable, listening to their ideas and making them feel special, even if it’s just for a few minutes.

Because facepaint is about more than what ends up on your face. It’s the experience, the confidence, the excitement and the feeling of being whoever you want to be for a little while.

The paint washes off, but the memories, the smiles and the feeling of being special? Those can last a whole lot longer.

And that’s what we want Doodlebug to be about.

Great paint yes, but also lovely people and a little bit of magic in every interaction.

What’s with all the posts this week?! I don’t know either – time on my hands?! Unheard of!

Well, all the admin is up to date, books are done and I can’t believe how busy you’ve got us for October and November.

Our only weekend afternoon slots left are with Julia on Halloween (31/10) and Sunday 22/11.

(We do have scattered morning availability).

We’re now booking December, January and beyond, so please don’t leave it until the last minute if you’d like to hire a facepainter, glitter bar (or a team!) for your Santa breakfast, light switch-on, party or, in fact, anything that needs our colourful chaos.

Julia is back at Arkleston Farmshop & Kitchen tomorrow for all your paint and glitter needs, spooky or otherwise!

Not sure if I’ve mentioned it, but it’s a lovely wee day out over there. Outside you will find pumpkin picking of course, but also animals, a bouncy castle and a pumpkin/scavenger hunt. And that’s not all!

In the big marquee, you’ll find a hay hunt, pumpkin painting and more photos ops -there’s also tables to rest and enjoy your coffee and goodies from the food truck. If you look carefully, you might even spot a Doodlebug!

Pumpkin patch is open daily until the 19th then again 24th and 25th. Beat the crowds and come during the week, you’ll thank me for it 😉 walk ins accepted or book online!

Over in the main building, if you’ve worked up a big appetite, there’s a gorgeous farm shop and café. The food is chef’s kiss (especially the burgers).

A lovely way to spend a day, keep the weans entertained and support local businesses. ♥️

So much fun at the pumpkin trail with the cutest clients! Glitter tattoos were flying out today and lots of different requests - as usual not nearly enough photos but you can find a Doodlebug here every day during this event! All through the October school holidays and 24th /25th!

Pumpkin fun at Arkleston today and all through the holidays! It’s handy for both Glasgow and Renfrewshire with pumpkin picking, a great food /coffee truck, fab kitchen / coffee shop (and more!) pumpkin painting, scavenger hunt, animals to see and a hay hunt with prizes. If that’s not enough, there’s a Doodlebug every day too!

A busy day at Erskine Arts wellbeing weekend and while I didn’t take nearly enough photographs, what a vibe. The music was on point, the kids were a delight, the activities sounded awesome and the lentil soup? *chefs kiss* and………there’s lots more to do tomorrow! Go see them!

Can’t wait to be back at the end of the month ♥️

A quiet but indulgent coffee in my favourite mug, birdsong in the background and a few peaceful moments to myself before heading off to the Wellbeing Weekend at Erskine Arts.

Sometimes self-care really is this simple — slowing down, taking a breath and enjoying the little things but if you need some ideas then our friends in Erskine are full of them.

Feeling refreshed and ready for a day of creativity, connection and good energy. 💚

Remember to take a little time for yourself today too. You deserve it.

Have you seen this? 👀 pumpkin patch fun starting next weekend. Close to Glasgow, Paisley and not too far from Johnstone and the villages! I hear the food and the coffee are worth coming for too as are the animals - and you never know, you might even meet a Doodlebug!

We’ve still got some weeknight availability throughout October for your parties and school discos, plus a couple of spaces on Halloween weekend for parties or to get you ready for guising!

Facepaint, glitter, gems, glitter tattoos and all the usual Doodlebug nonsense.

And while we’re here… Christmas bookings are officially OPEN, along with our 2027 diary. You heard me right, already taking bookings for January and beyond so run, don’t walk!

Fully insured, BAPIA registered, PVG checked and industry trained — because we like our glitter sparkly and our standards high.
