July weekends are filling up fast too, with limited availability but many weekdays remain free. If face paint, glitter, festival sparkle or colourful chaos is on your event wishlist, give me a shout soon!

Insider tip: Last-minute bookings often have more luck if you’re flexible with timing. On weekends, morning and after 4pm tend to have better availability across the entertainment world.
Or in the school holidays, why not try a week day?

Things I’ve learned this weekend…

Friday night, we arrived at Williamsburgh Primary School and with no obvious signs or branding, the kids were shouting, “It’s the Face Painter!” 🤣 Apparently I’ve reached the stage where even dressed head-to-toe in black, I now look like a face painter.

Saturday I met and painted loads of lovely weans in Houston (and a few adults too!). What I learned? Spending all day painting in a field is a great reminder that I’m not actually as young as I think I am… my joints would like a word with the manager.

And today I learned not to get sad when a wee girl comes back with a clean face for a second face paint … because it might just be her sister. 🤦‍♀️😂

What a brilliant weekend though! Thank you to everyone who stopped by for some paint, glitter or to challenge me to paint random stuff 😂

Ahhh, there’s nothing quite like the smell of rubbing alcohol in the morning… said no one ever, except face painters after a busy weekend!

Kit deep clean ✅
Stencils scrubbed within an inch of their lives ✅
Brushes washed and sorted ✅
Paints refreshed and ready for action ✅

This job isn’t always rainbows and unicorns – sometimes it’s sitting surrounded by tiny sponges and finding glitter in the strangest of places.

We’re all cleaned up, restocked, and ready to do it all again today in Paisley and Glasgow.

And because Facebook demands payment in cute photos, here are a couple of speedy wee faces from the weekend for the Facebook tax!

Good morning from Doodlebug HQ!

A huge thank you to Williamsburgh Primary School for having us at their fantastic fun day yesterday — we had an absolute blast painting smiles and sprinkling a little Doodlebug magic.

I even managed a quick craft class as I always need new skills (pictures for the fb tax)! Remember, we’re not just face painting — we also have Doodlebug Arts & Crafts keeping those creative fingers busy. Drop me a line to have us at your school, community groups or parties!

Today you’ll find the Doodlebugs buzzing between Houston Agricultural Show and Vinicombe Street Gala for WestFest, bringing colour, glitter, and general chaos to the masses. If you’re heading along, come and say hello and get yourself a splash of Doodlebug magic!

And tomorrow? Parties and a baby shower/gender reveal because apparently weekends are for relaxing… said no Doodlebug ever. 🤣

Rest? Never heard of it.
Would we change it? Not a chance.

Today’s charity football tournament was one of those lovely but slightly chaotic face-painting days where barely anyone requested the designs I thought they’d want!
I mean I did do a few footballs and the odd 6-7 but Elsa, Stitch, unicorns and the rest were nowhere to be seen!

Instead, I spent the afternoon creating loads of tiny freehand designs along with some wonderfully random requests, (from super hero mashups to ghost face through mini Pokemon to horseshoes) but I do love a doodle!

There were two of us painting and tattooing nonstop all afternoon, so I barely managed to take any photos, but that’s never a bad sign as my battery is fully charged with smiles and wows.

My wee doodley heart is very happy tonight… even if my back is filing an official complaint!

The Doodlebug team will be painting at a football tournament at Albion Rovers Ground this weekend, helping raise funds for the amazing St Andrews Hospice, along with Love Family Photography - Scotland.

Kick off is at 1pm, so if you’re nearby please come along and support a brilliant cause. There’ll be plenty going on, a fantastic raffle… and of course, team doodlebug!
