After 36 years as a florist, I’ve made the difficult decision to close the doors of Leaf as I get ready to retire.
Floristry has been such a big part of my life. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to have shops in both Boldon and Hebburn, and I’ve met so many lovely people along the way. Some of you have been coming to me for flowers for years – even decades – and that truly means the world to me.
Being a florist isn’t just about flowers. It’s about being part of people’s lives. I’ve made wedding bouquets for brides I remember as little girls, flowers to welcome new babies, birthday and anniversary surprises, and also the arrangements that help families say goodbye to loved ones. It has always been a privilege to be trusted with those moments.
Running a small shop for this long hasn’t always been easy, but the support from the communities in Hebburn, Boldon and the surrounding areas has been incredible. Whether you popped in for a bunch of flowers, trusted me with your wedding flowers, or just came in for a little chat, I’ve appreciated every single one of you.
Leaf will close on Thursday, 2nd April, the day before Good Friday.
It really is the end of an era for me, but after 36 busy and rewarding years it feels like the right time to slow down and enjoy retirement.
Thank you all so much for the support, kindness and memories over the years.
