Stand & Deliver on Friday 31st July took place at our new home of Stonham Aspal Village Hall.
The air con was on, Alex & Bob were behind the well-stocked bar, Brian was ready at the sound desk...so, time to kick off the music from...
Dawn, Kevin & Steve: with firstly - in tribute to Bonnie Tyler 'Holding Out For A Hero', followed by 'Maybe Tomorrow' & then 'Budapest' - with some marvelous high 'oooohs' from everyone!
Neil: with 'Better Be Home Soon', The Commodore's splendid 'Easy', followed by another tribute - this time to the very recently departed Glen Hansard & 'Say It To Me Now'.
Joy & Tony: with firstly 'Persuasion', before being joined by Steve on a further melodic duo of 'Ooh La La' & 'Can't Let Go'.
Tony D: began his entertaining & eclectic stint with 'Song For Neil', followed by 'Have You Got Any News Of The Iceberg' poem & then Mary Gauthier's 'I Drink'.
Sarah & Peter: with 3 more cheery songs for us!😄- a great selection of 'Northern Sky', Leonard Cohen's 'Amen' + 'Don't Pay The Ferryman'.
Karen: making a very welcome return to Stand & Deliver, treating us to a super trio - firstly with her own lyrics to 'Eve Of Destruction', followed by the very quirky 'Eddie Don't Like Furniture' & then the epic 'Where Do You Go To My Lovely'.
Anne Meacham: making a super Stand & Deliver debut on guitar + lovely vocals & accompanied by husband Steve on bass for Morcheeba's 'The Sea', then 'Better Be Home Soon' & a Travis favourite 'Sing'. Well done Anne, we hope to see you behind the mic again soon.
Judith: entertaining us with 4 super numbers on keyboard - Grieg's 'Morning Mood', 'Moon River', 'I Vow To Thee My Country' & 'The Bonnie Banks O' Loch Lomond'.
Terry: with a very pleasing trio of 'Poison', his own composition 'Young Forever' & finally 'California Dreamin'.'
Teresa & Les: with their own Bonnie Tyler tribute 'It's A Heartache', followed by Les on solo duty for The Beatle's 'If I Fell', before they teamed up again for the splendid 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'.
Jenny: with lovely vocals & acoustic guitar for 'The Crossing', a touch of Cilla with 'You're My World' & finally a great a ca****la rendition of 'When I was Young'.
David: starting with an 'I Shall Be Released/ First Cut Is The Deepest' mix followed by Lennon's 'Beautiful Boy' & then being joined by...Neil & Steve for a splendid 'Holy Moses'.
Joan & Karl: with a fine acoustic set of another Glen Hansard tribute 'Falling Slowly', then 'Who Knows Where The Time Goes' & finally Runrig's 'Every River'.
Kevin, Pete & Steve: on guitar, mandolin & bass respectively for 'Early Morning Rain' - is that wishful thinking? & then finally...
Les, David, Tony M, Steve & Pete: with a rocking finale' of 'I Saw Her Standing There' & 'Roll Over Beethoven'. Great dancing too!

In the midst of a heatwave & with much appreciated air conditioning, Stand & Deliver no: 125 was held on 26th June at Stonham Aspal Village Hall.
Kevin, Steve & Pete: kicked off the music with 'Urban Spaceman'.
Teresa & Les: followed on with a lively trio of 'It's Getting Better', 'Make Me Smile ( Come Up & See Me )' & 'Jumpin' Jack Flash'.
A special presentation was then made to them, to mark their 50th & 51st Stand & Deliver performances respectively. Well done you two & thank you for all your support of our open mic nights.
Neil; then treated us to a Jason Isbell trio of 'We've Met', 'Travelling Alone' & 'Speed Trap Town'.
Pauline, Tony & Stephen: then teamed up for the poignant 'Boulder To Birmingham' & then...
Pauline & Tony: combined for 'Boomer's Story' before...
Pauline: concluded the set on ukulele with Dylan's 'Make You Feel My Love'.
Wendy: also with trusty ukulele, for the Mamas & Papa's 'Dedicated To The One I Love' & then with some accompaniment from Dawn on the possibly biographical 'Thorn In My Side' 🤔 & finally a lovely a capella rendition of 'Tell Me On A Sunday'.
Ollie: on his Stand & Deliver performance debut, accompanied by Steve on bass, with confidence on guitar & vocals for 'Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me'. Ollie has previously helped to man the sound desk, so it was great to see him step up to the mic.
Joy & Tony: returning to Stand & Deliver with 3 lovely songs. Firstly 'Still The Good Old Days' & then being accompanied by Nick on '( What's So Funny 'Bout ) Peace, Love & Understanding' & finally 'Warm Love' - on a very warm night!
Terry: with a very pleasing trio, of firstly his own composition 'Daisy On The Internet', followed by 'Another Round' & 'When The Cranes Fly South'.
Margaret, Nick & Tony M: with Clapton's 'Change The World'.
Nick: with solo artistry 😊on 'Vincent', then...
Nick & Steve: being creative on 'Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs' followed by...
Dawn, Nick & Steve: & the steadfast 'Time After Time'.
Stephen & Les: Stephen on guitar & Les on vocals/ guitar for another Clapton number - 'Tears In Heaven'.
Stephen, Neil & Martin: Neil on vocals/ guitar this time, with Martin on fiddle for Van Morrison's 'Almost Independence Day'.
Sarah & Peter: well, we hadn't had a Cohen song so far, so they put that right with 'Take This Waltz', followed by 'People Are Strange' & Nick Cave's 'The Mercy Seat'.
Dawn, Kevin & Steve: with the empowering 'Flowers' followed by the jaunty 'Irish Pub Song'.
Teresa & Les: closed out the evening with the finale' of 'House Of The Rising Sun', 'Mony Mony' & 'Hi Ho Silver Lining'.

We had a great time at the Debenham Art Exhibition on Friday evening. We enjoyed playing & viewing the wonderful paintings on display from some very talented artists.

A special presentation to Brian our sound wizard, as this was his 75th time on the mixing desk for us. Well done Brian, you are an essential part of the team & much appreciated!
Then followed...
Dawn & Kevin: & the 1st Dylan number of the evening - 'Is Your Love In Vain'.
Dawn, Kevin & Steve: followed on with 'Sylvia's Mother' - remembering Dennis Locorriere of Dr. Hook fame & finally 'Love On The Rocks'.
Tony D: with a Dylan double of 'Talking World War 3 Blues' & 'Just Like A Woman'.
Teresa & Les: with their own splendid Dr Hook tribute in 'If Not You', followed by 'They Don't Know' & Smokies' 'Lay Back In The Arms Of Someone'.
Stephen, Martin & Peter: with the instrumental 'The Ashokan Farewell'.
Neil: on fine form with his trio of 'Cherokee', 'Cleveland County Blues' & Led Zeppelins' 'The Rain Song'.
Rachel: on her 2nd Stand & Deliver performance, beginning with the viola on a jaunty football crowd medley, before swapping to ukulele for the 'Match Of The Day' theme tune.
Rachel & Dad Terry: then continued the football theme for the super 'Three Lions'.
Terry: then treated us to 'The Book Of Love', his own composition 'Hold Me' & then 'Baker Street'.
Margaret, Nick & Steve: & the very weather-appropriate 'Lovely Day', along with 'Handle Me With Care', whilst...
Nick & Steve: completed their set with 'Another Day In Paradise'.
Sarah & Peter: with firstly the Queens Of The Stone Age epic 'No One Knows' & then 'If You Go Away' & the essential Cohen...'First We Take Manhattan', where they were joined by Steve on bass.
Stephen, Steve & Nick: with our personal favourite song of the night - Snow Patrols' 'Run'. Fabulous.
Kevin & Martin: then teamed up on guitar & fiddle for 'One More Cup Of Coffee'.
Martin: then treated us to a bagpipe tune - ( on the fiddle!)
Stephen & Kevin: with another super Dylan number 'Every Grain Of Sand'.
Tony: then amused us all with the splendid 'Have You Got Any News Of The Iceberg' poem, before being joined by Kevin for the 6th & final Dylan song of the night - 'Hey Mr. Tambourine Man'.

Teresa & Les: & a very enjoyable 'House Of The Rising Sun', before...
Nick, Steve, Peter, Martin & Tony: played us out with 'Bad Moon Rising', when some very energetic 'dancing' by a couple of chaps completed the entertainment.

Friday 24th April...& Stonham Aspal Village Hall hosted our latest Stand & Deliver.
Teresa & Les: who arranged the booking at this venue, kicked off the evening with a splendid trio - firstly accompanied by Martin on fiddle for 'Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word', followed by just Les & Teresa on 'You've Got A Friend' & 'Nowhere Man'.
Neil: with a cracking '3:59AM' sandwiched between a Simon & Garfunkel duo of 'America' & 'The Only Living Boy In New York'.
Tony D: regaled us with a Shakespeare reading, before being joined by Pauline on Ry Cooders' 'Boomers Story'.
Jenny: making a very welcome return with melodic renditions of 'No Regrets', 'Five Hundred Miles' & 'Summer Fly'.
David: with firstly his own 'miserable' song 'Make It Go Away', followed by more of his own compositions 'Everybody Knows' & 'Map Of Life'.
Rachel: on debut, & standing in for Dad Terry, with her own splendid self-penned composition for recorder - 'A Dancer In The High Wind'.
Margaret, Nick & Steve: with firstly 'Let Your Love Flow', before being joined by Kevin on 'Meet Me On The Corner'.
Nick, Steve & Kevin: concluded the set with 'Over My Shoulder', complete with great guitar, bass & whistling skills respectively 😄
After a short break...
Judith: began the 2nd half with super keyboard skills on 'The Joyful Eastertide', Beethovens' 'Symphony No 7, 2nd movement' & 'The Band Played On'.
Karl & Joan: with gentle acoustic renditions of 'Magnolia Wind', 'Green Eyes' & the sing-along 'Bright Eyes'.
Sarah & Peter: with their song selection of an essential Leonard Cohen, in 'So Long, Marianne', followed by a rousing 'Ready For The Storm' & the not-so-cute 'White Rabbit'.
Wendy: with a traditional English trio, to celebrate the previous day being St. Georges' Day, in 'Scarborough Fair', 'All Around My Hat' & the C16th 'Greensleeves'.
Dawn, Kevin & Steve: also with English songs - but these weren't QUITE so traditional ...'London Calling' & 'Hurry Up Harry'!
Dawn, Kevin & Nick: with a 3rd English - appropriate theme & 'Raincoat And A Rose' where Nick added glorious 'twiddly-fiddly bits' on guitar.
Les & Martin: with super guitar & fiddle on 'Groovy Kind Of Love'.
Pauline & Tony: back with 'There Ain't No Sweet Man' & super sing-along 'Belle Of Belfast City'.
The four-song finale' began with...
Nick, David & Steve: on 'Let's Work Together' followed by...
Teresa, David, Steve, Les & Nick: on a splendid 'When Will I Be Loved', then...
Les leading the above chaps on 'I saw Her Standing There' before the final finale' of 'Don't Let Me Down' with David leading this time.
