Should I answer the phone?
We have all been there. The phone rings, and the screen tells you it’s call from Sheffield, or Bath, or Edinburgh etc, so you think – I don’t know anyone there and dismiss the call.
It happened to me 2 Thursdays ago. A call from New York. My mind said - I don’t know anyone from New York so forget it! But my gut said ‘who the hell could that be calling ME from New York?’ So I answered it.
A lady introduced herself as Catherine, and she quickly said she was organising a Sunday afternoon party in an AirBnB in Southwold for her family and friends for around 70 people and was I, by any chance, free a week on Sunday to do tapas and paella! Southwold – only a 30minute drive from my house!
I was free that day, so I said yes, did the event and it really was great day! A chicken paella and a mixed seafood paella, set in a lovely garden, with lovely people. Great fun all round and they all said a big thankyou at the end. Even had me take a group picture of them all before I left!
It turned out that it was a surprise 70th birthday party for Grandad ! He was over the moon and smiled all day long!
So – it begs a question. When do I answer a call and when should I ignore it? 😊😊😊
