Dear Rishi Sunak,
I have built a business for the past 40 years in the Leisure & Entertainment industry supplying, hiring and installing professional sound, lighting and audio visual equipment.
This can involve clients from many sectors including hotels, theatres, music festivals, wedding venues, social clubs, pubs, government authorities, conference centres and I could go on.
Both mine and many other business’s in this sector are now in severe and real danger of going out of business unless we receive immediate help from the government.
So far I have been entitled to nothing, so that is six months of no income at all, yes that’s right, no income at all. I now face upto another 6-12 months of none or little income at all.
Whilst I appreciate that you didn’t invent Covid-19, you are our Chancellor of the Exchequer here in the UK, which gives you a responsibility to help your subjects, does it not ? We pay our taxes to you in many sorts of ways, we are asking you of just one way of paying us.
Both I and others in this industry cannot survive another 6-12 months of no income at all, and we will be forced to close our business’s, make staff redundant and then claim benefits from the government to try and help us survive in our private lives at home. I mention home, I know some people that are already being forced to sell their homes cheaply in order to make ends meet. This cannot be right can it ??
Please help now the business’s and freelancers that need food in their tummies and a roof over their heads. Christmas and New Years events have all just been cancelled due to the latest announcement by your colleague Mr. Johnson on Tuesday, so non-income for us is immediate !!!
If not, please get ready to accept up to 1.5 million people at your hospitality venues (Unemployment Centres, Food Banks, Housing Benefit, Council House) offices etc.
I think you should also prepare for a winter of discontent if you do not do something to help each and everyone of the people who live in this country, otherwise I can only see a lot of civil unrest hitting the streets. You have helped many already, but have said you cannot help everyone !!! Is that not a prejudice against those still suffering from no funding ???
As said, despite trying to claim, I am entitled to nothing from your offerings so far, so please find a way of supplying financial help to me and many others with immediate affect.
