In May, I travelled from Fife to Gairloch for Abbey and Charles’ elopement at Shieldaig Lodge — and honestly, it was one of those weddings that stays with you.

We spent a short 15 minutes together the evening before, capturing some natural portraits as the sun was beginning to set. The wedding day itself was beautifully simple: just Abbey, Charles, the photographer and myself.

Intimate, quiet, and incredibly special.

I’m really proud of this film, and it absolutely deserved a place on my website.

Five years of Black Fern — and 5K people following the journey.

I’m genuinely grateful to be doing something I love, and heading into a new season with a real sense of excitement for what’s ahead.

After a quieter winter spent learning, attending workshops, and refining my approach, I’m feeling creatively recharged and ready to tell more stories — with care, intention, and a focus on what matters most.

Most of what I do is grounded at home — with my wife Danielle, and our daughter Eilidh, who’s nearly three. They’re a constant reminder of how quickly these moments pass, and why it matters to capture them with honesty and care.

This season is shaping up to be my busiest yet, with so many beautiful weddings ahead. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of each one.

And for those who’ve asked — Black Fern is a name close to home. It comes from my wife’s maiden name, Ferns — a quiet nod to her, and a reminder of why I started.
