A new day and a new floor filler here at HI-FI & 45s.

George Benson – Give Me The Night (1980)

Produced by Quincy Jones and written by Rod Temperton, this record helped introduce George Benson to a much wider audience and became one of the defining releases of the early 1980s.

For many, this is simply the ultimate summer soundtrack.

It’s Saturday, so here’s another floor filler from the Hi-Fi & 45s collection.

The Conway Brothers – Turn It Up (1985)

One of those records that became a huge favourite in UK soul and club circles, despite only modest chart success. With its infectious groove and feel-good vocal, this is a record that has filled dance floors for decades and remains a favourite with DJs who love the best of 80s soul.

It’s Friday, which can only mean one thing… time to hit the dancefloor.

Today’s Hi-Fi & 45s selection is M People – How Can I Love You More (1991).

Before the chart success and later remixes, this was already making its mark in clubs across the UK. The remix may have reached a wider audience, but there’s something about the original version that keeps people coming back to it.

A reminder of just how strong M People’s early productions were.

Our midweek floor filler choice here at Hi-Fi and 45s is The Rah Band – Clouds Across The Moon (1985).

A record that has become a genuine jazz-funk classic in the UK, written and produced by Richard Hewson.

What’s your midweek soundtrack?

Glenn Goldsmith – Dreaming (1988).

One of those late 80s UK soul records that still gets plenty of love. Dreaming gave Glenn Goldsmith a UK Top 20 hit, reaching No.12 in 1988.

And for anyone who thought Glenn was a one-hit wonder, think again. He later went on to co-write Peter Andre’s huge hit Mysterious Girl, which eventually reached No.1 in the UK.
