Such a beautiful morning this morning.

I have started my morning watching my son at rugby.

You don't have to have flowers on the top of the coffin if you don't want to. You can have something different if you want.

I recently led the service for a very talented joiner and wood carver. The image of the carved dragon is one he carved. One of the poems which was included in the service was the following

The Carpenter Lives On
Author Unknown

Stepping into his workshop to start the day,
Different pieces of wood laid in array,
The scent of cedar filling the air,
A piece of furniture he works to prepare,
Handcrafted with love and the finest precision,
A work came to life with what he could envision,
Measuring the wood for the perfect size,
Tape measure at hand from his supplies,
Reaching for a saw lying on a shelf,
He whistles a familiar tune to himself,
Cutting the wood with the utmost care,
A type of craftsmanship no other can compare,
Skilled at working with his hands,
He strives to use them for all of life’s demands,
Hands that could craft his heart’s desires,
Creating a lifetime of work to be forever admired,
The ability to turn something simple into grand,
The only tools he needed were his left and right hand,
Each piece of work embodies his spirit and love,
A talent he was blessed with from the Lord above,
The carpenter lives on through his creations,
His heart the framework to all his foundations

What do you wish you knew when arranging a funeral service? Is it that you can have the person of your choice to officiate the service or you thought you had to have the lord's prayer but your loved one wouldn't have wanted it??

When talking to a family about their loved one who's funeral service I am to put together and deliver I will ask if they had any interests or hobbies.

It doesn't matter how long they had been doing it they were still interested.

I am new to wild swimming, the tranquility and peacefulness of being away from the busyness of life is what helps me relax between writing and services, making sure I am at my best for all the families I work with.

Sometimes services remind you to be uniquely yourself, to live life on your terms and more importantly to laugh while doing it
Earlier this week I had the privilege of leading the service for a gentleman that laughed a lot. Often laughing that much he couldn't finish telling you a story for laughing.

He lived life to the full and loved the life he lived.
