“If you’re melting in this weather… imagine how the buttercream feels! 😄🍰

Just a little note about cakes during the hot weather… 🍰

As much as we all love the sunshine, cake certainly doesn’t! 😊

When temperatures get very high, buttercream becomes much softer, fondant can sweat or become sticky, and chocolate decorations can soften or melt much more quickly than usual. Even with air conditioning or fans on while being decorated, the journey to the venue and warm rooms can affect the finished cake.

I always do everything I can to make sure every cake leaves me looking its very best, but during a heatwave, some changes caused by the weather are simply beyond anyone’s control.

If you have a cake booked in with me over the next couple of weeks the best thing you can do is keep it in a cool room don’t put it in a fridge as this can cause the cake to get condensation on it when brought into a warm room, avoid leaving it in a hot car if collecting or transporting it to a venue and display it out of direct sunlight or preferably bringing the cake out of a cool room just before you need it
