First time for me at Westwood Retreat Centre in Huddersfield. What a fab place for a wedding, and this really was a family affair!
The venue itself is an old chapel and the family spent the day before decorating the rooms with homemade bunting and flowers.
Alice and George had the best day, and we loved being there to capture all the fun and emotional speeches!
Looking forward to coming back!

Hepworth and Holmbridge wedding on this day last year.
I love a local wedding, especially when the couple have got their friends and family together to help decorate the hall the day before. It really feels like a community effort.

L & D chose the venue because it has a homely pub feel at the front and a sophisticated interior in the wedding venue, with great food!
Perfect party room for a dance later too.
So lovely to be there with you, especially as I went to school with some of the guests! 🤣

I admit that I got a little bit giddy when Freya messaged me just three weeks ago to ask me to photograph this wedding. I’ve admired ‘Heights’ Church in Saddleworth for about forty years, but it’s always been closed as long as I can remember. It’s an imposing building in a fantastic position on top of a hill between Delph and Denshaw.
After receiving special permission from the Archbishop of Canterbury’s office, a license was granted and Freya and Tom could get married in their family church.
It was certainly colder inside than out, but the atmosphere was perfect for the occasion.

Marsden’s St Bartholomews church was the setting for Sophie and Jack’s wedding, and what a beautiful place for a wedding!
Everyone had a great time, some people said the wrong vows, but that just added to the fun atmosphere 🤣
The church even allowed the celebrations to start straight away with pies and Prosecco before the couple set off to the reception in their fancy 1950 Buick.
So much fun and this was just the start!

The lovely Marsden Parish Church (St Bartholomew's) is a magnificent place for a wedding ceremony. Known locally as the cathedral of the Colne Valley, I'm guessing because it's absolutely huge. The aisle is quite a walk for the wedding party, but great to make an entrance.
Sophie and Jack had a brilliant ceremony, and stayed afterwards for pork pies and fizz to celebrate their nuptials.
I love it when I get to photograph weddings in my home village.
