If you are serious about growing a collection of then you need to start attending record fairs and checking sale bins, second hand shops and charity shops… there is gold in them hills!

The record fair is a great example of where to pick up, not only records you are after, but to chat to the dealers and find your new favourite records you had no idea existed. Free entry, fairly priced records (some second hand shops in Brighton are definitely getting a bit spendy) DJs spinning vinyl makes it a great place to hang out, chat to people and pick up a solid weight of records to take home.
I stopped by the shop yesterday, and their sale bin is better stocked and better priced than some shops I’ve been in! So I took a chance on some bits there too.
I routinely check Hoves charity shops because there is always something to take home, although Oxfam have started putting prices up so watch out.
Lastly, chat to the guys and girls working in second hand shops. A good second hand shop wants to shift through stock regularly, so get to know them and you’ll find they’ll turn you into stuff you didn’t know about, or have some thing ‘out the back’ they know you’ll like.
Thats how you build a collection without breaking the bank, plus your collection will become something unique to you.

Yep! My spiritual home and where I cut my broadcasting teeth with literally hundreds of shows, 1BTN is having me back. Monthly shows, Fridays, 10am.

I’ll do a proper post about the First Press record fair at the week, I’ve just been pretty busy.

In the meantime, here are two albums I didn’t know Jean Claude aka If Music had compiled with his partner in Amalgamation of Soundz.

Stoked to have found both in the same pile, a little neatness is rather satisfying, although I’ve not listened yet, they almost come with a satisfaction guarantee, if I know Jean Claude.

As he says ‘You Need This’ indeed.
