A quiet moment together at Woodland Manor Hotel & Restaurant
One thing we always try to do during a wedding day is give couples a short break away from the schedule. Just ten minutes to walk through the gardens, breathe and enjoy the moment together. That is usually when some of the most natural photographs happen.
Sophie and Kai were amazing. Completely relaxed and simply enjoying the day together. Woodland Manor is such a beautiful setting for wedding photography, especially with the gardens and the historic manor house around you.
We love photographing weddings here in Bedford because every season gives the venue a slightly different atmosphere.

Sometimes when you photograph weddings you capture moments you did not plan.
That is Frankie from Woodland Manor Hotel & Restaurant making a surprise appearance. We like to think she was just making sure everything was running smoothly. Or maybe checking that we were doing our job properly. Or maybe just wanted to be in at least one photo... 😂
Either way it gave us a great behind the scenes moment and a good laugh when we spotted it later.
Weddings are full of these little unexpected moments and we love them.

Last weekend we had the pleasure of photographing Sophie and Kai’s beautiful wedding at Woodland Manor in Bedford.
From the moment we arrived in the morning there was such a calm and relaxed atmosphere while everyone was getting ready. Sophie looked incredible in her dress and the excitement slowly started building as the ceremony approached.
One of our favourite moments from the day was the confetti walk outside the manor. So much laughter, colour and genuine happiness. These are the kinds of moments we love capturing because they are completely real and impossible to recreate.
Sophie and Kai chose our full day package which meant we were there from morning preparations all the way through to the evening celebrations. With two photographers we were able to capture everything happening throughout the day. The big moments and the little ones in between.
As a small bonus we are also creating a cinematic highlight video for them so they can relive the day in motion as well as through their photographs.

The name ‘Gordon Baxter’ means a passionate wedding photographer. Capturing smile and beauty that surrounds me, I have always been fascinated by photography. Since I had my first camera from my mum and dad, this has been my hobby. As a wedding photographer I know that a well captured moment in time will be a memory that is going to last forever.
History of Gordon Baxter Photography
I learned the basics of composition and the film development process back in 90's. It gave me the experience that a lot of starting photographers do not have. Since then, I have spent every free minute developing my skills and style. Fast forward a few years later, my first job involved working in a marketing department. Designing posters, leaflets and other advertising products it was where I got to know a very powerful photo editing software – Adobe Photoshop. Although the process of developing and editing the photos has changed significantly over time, a lot of the old techniques used to develop photos can be used with the new technology.
Pursuing my passion
In 2014 I decided that I would like to turn my hobby into an official business. I invested in a professional DSLR, lights and other accessories. I must admit, it felt like I was holding my first camera for the first time again! I enrolled on a photography course with leading photographers - Jerry Ghionis and Sue Bryce to quickly update my photography skills and broaden my business knowledge. After shooting a couple of weddings for my friends, I noticed how many things I was able to photograph in just one Wedding. From portraits and group photos to the popular reportage style wedding photos. Combining my dark room experience, photo skills and knowledge of Photoshop makes my business stand out. I keep the natural style of the wedding and still make sure you get the photos you have dreamed of.
I never put my camera down. On my journeys to different places in the UK and abroad, I always take my camera to capture those memories. On one of those occasions I asked my fiancée to marry me. Oh yes, I did take a photo of that special moment as well. Actually, I took three! That image in many years’ time, will keep the memory of that moment as fresh as it is today.
