90 seconds of me wittering on. Basically the message is “thank you”. May was just lovely with so many brides, a sprinkling of bridesmaids and a few last minute prom girls and their mums.

June is looking even busier and, with an increase in last minute bookings and calls asking for walk-in’s, now is the time to get your appointment booked to avoid disappointment.

Can’t wait to meet you!

Sunday inspiration… on our newsletter and now live on the blog this month we invited Bonni, owner of Designer Travel to tell us about her work as a personal travel consultant.

Where would your dream honeymoon destination be?

Three simple things about us at Bride and the Party that surprise and delight people…

1. We are so close to the town centre that you could walk to us if you wanted to. However, why would you when we offer free parking for the duration of your visit? With prior arrangement, you can leave your car with us and take your party into town for brunch, lunch or dinner to make your decision. No rushing, no drama, just you and the gang.

2. Our studio is big! Not only is our studio floor space large but our dressing rooms are generous with plenty of seating for your party. That said, be careful before you invite more that three people to your appointment. It’s true that a group bigger than that have been known to derail an appointment and confuse a bride in her decision making.

3. Our coffee is great (apparently!). We love to sit down and hear all about your wedding plans with a hot beverage before diving into the dressing up part. And there is always a bottle of sparkling English wine (courtesy of the guys at ) ready to celebrate that special “yes” moment.

Book your appointment (Friday and Saturday appointments go quick!) to experience Bride and the Party yourself.

The big question: how much do wedding dresses really cost?

It really does depend on where you choose to shop.

Some boutiques offer the lower budget dresses for under £800. These will be fabrics that are less luxurious (think polyester rather than silk or satins) but no less pretty.

Other boutiques will offer designer brands only, especially for those looking for that ultra high end, on-trend look. These gowns will have the finest fabrics and quality of make, often with a handmade element and most likely traceable sources. You will be paying over £5000.

At Bride and the Party, we have carefully selected gowns to meet the average budget of a UK bride. We know most brides are spending on average £1,500 on their dress. We are increasingly asking our designers for provenance and traceability of manufacturing.

What you spend on your dress (and your wedding) is a very personal choice and nobody else’s business. We understand that there could be a million different reasons for you setting your budget. We won’t question you, pressure you to stretch it or share it with anyone else.

Hopefully that helps to clear up the big question that everyone asks!

Dear readers. To tan or not to tan, that is so often the question in the fitting rooms.

The choice is always yours. As someone who has lived a life of paleness, tanning for me has always been out of a bottle. Believe me when I say I know the dilemma of how much skin to show and how to show it at its best. It doesn’t matter what skin tone you have, all of us want to glow on those special days.

When I met Krys of and she offered me a trial, it was a nervous me that said yes. But with the talk in the studio of tans (or not), I thought why not give it a go - all in the name of customer care! You can read about my experience on our Be Our Guest Blog on the website (or get first access by subscribing to our monthly newsletter).

Spoiler: I loved it!

Best wishes, Rebecca
