I could literally cry my eyes out. We’ve had lovely messages on the page reference closing and we’ve also received between messenger and email over 350 messages.

Some of them have been so kind and wonderful and telling us what an inspiration we’ve been and through this changing lives for the better with being a charitable status and nonprofit organisation.

If I’m totally and utterly honest my reference towards closing is my husbands ongoing health needs.

When I started Cegin Carand my husband had wanted to retire after being in the Military for nearly 35yrs. A man who served in Northern Ireland, Sierra Leone, Balkan’s inc Kosovo, Bosnia. Then Kuwait, Saudi, Oman, Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Cyprus, Falklands, Italy, Sardina, Sicily, Germany, Holland, Turkey all supporting the surrounding countries who were either based in war or supporting just outside of war zones.

I do believe this term of employment had one hell of an impact on his life. And while undergoing gruesome terms within his life span it took a toll on his well-being.

He retired in 2019 and I continued to work in health & social care full time until 2020 after which myself being employed in total over 33yrs too early retirement.

Into that by a year he adored it and felt such a changed man. Me on the other hand had itchy feet and found being at home difficult.

So with the wonderful help of FCC and the Foods Standards Agency and Deeside College I created Cegin Carand and gave loved every minute of it.

However it exploded way out of control and ended up in many big businesses coming in for buffets. When I originally started I was about Jams, Chutneys & Pickling. Then it became cakes, pastries, etc.

Soon to turn into full blown buffets. I have to admit I was over whelmed and even though I may blow my own trumpet my buffets and cakes along with jams etc are all homemade. You will never receive shop bought from me.

But as I have a passion for it I never want to say no and I always say yes but it’s killing me. I’m physically drained and exhausted. Andrew my husband has been very poorly. I’ve been ill with clonic tonic seizures which we believe has been brought on by the stress.

So I decided that July 31st 2026 would be a closing day so I could concentrate on myself, my family, our health and spend quality time together.

On the other hand it makes my tummy gripe as I know I won’t be able to just sit and relax it’s not in my blood.

So after receiving so many lovely messages I need to advise after serious talks the following will be in place.

Some may not like it others may applaud it. But I’m not going to please everyone.

Cegin has decided to remain open. However these will be the new rules in place and sadly some major companies will have to stop as they’ve become too big.

Closest to my heart and what my life time of working has meant and keeping is the Kim Inspire. I was with this company down in the Social Care Accolade in 2007 and what they do is phenomenal.

I will not be catering for big events except for them.

I will accept orders for small event’s however if you want them you will have to collect it.

That also stretches to small functions who want cakes, buffets, savouries etc. I will still supply but it will be on a collect only basis.

I know through this that many will pass by and say no. But by allowing me to create, make and you collect means I’m still within my home providing and can spend time with my loved ones.

It will be on a smaller scale. But I can assure you that if it’s impossible for me to complete I will always give you details of others that offer just as good as a service that I do and know you will enjoy.

I’m fully booked up right until the end of July 2026.

I do have bookings right up to December 2026 which I’ve honoured. But the amount of lovely messages you have sent and a lot compromising saying they will collect rather than lose me has been so overwhelming.

So we will remain open but on a lesser scale and hopefully we won’t disappoint if not available and recommend some of our friends providing as we do in the catering association.

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart you have all been truly wonderful and loyal customers and that means the world to me 🥰🥰🥰❤️😘

Lovely little party for Mr Holman BCHUB Glan Clwyd for his birthday. 🤗 the wrapping paper is still on our cheese cakes to let them thaw out properly as it’s too warm to serve them otherwise.

Gorgeous doughnuts filled with jam & fresh cream for Bob. Beautiful sausage rolls made for Helen and her family. A wonderful Victoria sponge & cream too and a couple of cherry cheese cake hearts. Sadly I forgot to take a picture of the vegan doughnuts but I make them all the time for Christophers son and being totally diary free he loves them. 🥰

Lovely spread laid on for the Kim Inspire. A few trays for Karen to take to Prestatyn and then the rest for Dave & Hannah for all the volunteers.

Fantastic what they do there. Such an inspiration and something very close to my heart.

Important Announcement from Cegin Carand

After a great deal of thought and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to close Cegin Carand as of 31st July 2026.

Due to ongoing health needs within my family, I have come to realise that I can no longer continue running a small charitable business full-time and give the dedicated time needed elsewhere. After much consideration, I know focusing on my family is the right decision for us.

I want to reassure everyone that all existing orders placed with Cegin Carand will be honoured, including any orders already booked beyond the closing date.

Likewise, all booked events, including Christmas commitments, will absolutely still go ahead, especially as many of these are charity-focused and incredibly important to me.

However, from 31st July 2026, no new orders will be accepted.

I cannot thank you all enough for the support, kindness, encouragement, and loyalty you have shown throughout this journey. You have helped make Cegin Carand what it is, and I will always be grateful.

Depending on how things progress in the future, there may come a time when I reopen in some capacity with reduced hours — but for now, my priority must be my family and the importance that holds.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything.

With love and gratitude,Carolyn & Team Cegin Carand ❤️

I forgot to take pictures when the quiches came out of the oven. I was quite disheartened as my quiches are normally fantastic. But I made these extra special and extra large. They were 9” round x 3” deep and maybe just a little too big to cool down by the time I delivered. 😭😢

I’ve learnt my lesson that making extra large quiches need to be made the night before. But me being me I love everything to be provided freshly made for my customers.

Today’s buffet was for Friday Friends of Ysceifiog. They think a lot of me and my small business and what I do for communities. But it doesn’t excuse that I don’t feel brilliant that I didn’t succeed in offering them the quality they are accustomed to.

I offered to reduce their bill by the price but they point blankly refused and said although warm they were not eating for another half and hour. And it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t cut like cement if the quality of ingredients that matter the most.

I came away feeling better but not my best. These people this beautiful community of Ysceifiog are the most wonderful I have ever met.

Their spirit, their invite to all their social events is fantastic. I’m totally privileged to know them.

However I would say if we all went to a restaurant and we’re not happy with the food we would ask for a refund.

Ysceifiog being so community led just say things happen but it’s not soul destroying and it doesn’t stop us from correcting minor issues.

“Minor” I love them from the bottom of my heart and cant thank them so much for being so understanding and wanting me back again.

Thank you so much.

Didn’t get time to lots of pics but have a few. Plus I won’t be making such deep quiches again. The before and the afters below:

28/05/2026

Beautiful assorted duck eggs freshly laid and available The Black Bull Farm Shop, Daniel Owen indoor Market Mold. They are absolutely sensational. Purchased them to put in my cakes & quiches. Be quick he sells out of them very quickly. I’ve just used some to make for curried eggs and sandwiches. But before I add anything to them I want you to see the beautiful colour of these.

It will be added in the comments as sadly I can’t post a video and a photo. ❤️

Thanks Rich they are gorgeous. See you soon with some sausage rolls x x
