The story of our Christmas tree this year 🎄
We found our perfectly imperfect tree at Tesco Extra Maryhill, where the most enthusiastic team were giving away real trees in the underground car park — so thank you, Tesco!
We were invited to donate any amount (which we happily did) to support Tesco’s charity partners.

Next came the journey to its new home at The Whisky Bond — using a very, very sustainable mode of transport:
✔️ The tree was first carried by hand from Tesco’s car park to our unit at 920 Maryhill Road, attracting a lot of attention
✔️ After a short rest, a green-energy “limousine” was called and we continued our trip, enjoying the canal views on this four-wheel vehicle
✔️ We even received a few cheers and early “Merry Christmas!” wishes from people we met
Once we arrived at The Whisky Bond, it was time to get festive.
This year, we chose to decorate the tree with beautifully mismatched tea sets from , displayed like precious jewellery. Personally, looking at the tree and those little ceramic cups fills me with pure JOY.
Add to that:
✨ leftover ribbons and lights saved from previous years
✨ a bag of gold and red baubles from Barnardo’s Charity Shop, bought for pennies
✨ our handmade tartan stuffed animals — a fox, a bear, a penguin and two deer
✨ and the pièce de résistance: a beautiful rose teapot as our tree topper
Now tell us — does it bring you JOY?
It certainly brings us JOY, and it’s created a lovely memory… which is what Christmas is all about 🤍
PS: Total spend on this Christmas tree: £15 🎄
