Turns out Ibiza’s best-kept secret isn’t a beach...
Ibiza makes incredible wine, and it deserves a place on your must-try list.
Just ten minutes outside Ibiza Town, IBIZKUS WINES Ibizkus is a boutique winery combining low-intervention winemaking, including minimal sulphite use (good news for anyone who dreads a wine-induced headache!), with modern facilities and a beautiful tasting room 💫
We were delighted to taste Totem Red, made from old, goblet-pruned Monastrell vines. Elegant and complex, showing gorgeous garnet hues, soft cherry and cassis fruit, fine polished tannins, and a lovely herbal lift of sage and rosemary 🍷🍒🌿
Equally memorable was the limited-production Totem Rosé, also crafted from old-vine Monastrell grown in a single limestone-veined vineyard and aged for eight months in French oak. Fresh, creamy and mineral, it paired beautifully with my new obsession: Coca de Pebrera, a traditional Ibizan pastry topped with sweet red peppers, garlic and olive oil 🌶️ 🧄 One of those “wow, that’s a perfect match” moments 😋
For everyday drinking, the Ibizkus Rosé is their Provence-inspired flagship. Pale, crisp and vibrant, it’s made for sunshine and pairs effortlessly with seafood, sushi, salads and paella 🥘 🍣 🥗
Beyond the wines themselves, it was fascinating to learn about the island’s terroir and winemaking heritage. Once you hear the story behind Ibiza’s vines, you experience the island a little differently ✨
If you’re in Ibiza, drink local. You won’t regret it.
