The Manor House at Brinsop Court has been lived in, gathered in, and passed through for centuries. Today, it’s hired exclusively for private stays, gatherings, corporate retreats, and productions.
The oldest parts of the house date back to the early 1300s, built on medieval foundations and once protected by a moat and drawbridge. From the 15th century, Brinsop was home to the influential Dansey family for more than 500 years, whose legacy can still be seen in the architecture and stained glass throughout the house.
During the English Civil War, Brinsop found itself caught up in the conflict, changing hands between Royalist and Parliamentary forces and serving as a temporary military headquarters. Centuries later, its rooms would welcome an altogether different cast of guests, including William Wordsworth, who stayed here in the winter of 1827, and Professor Stephen Hawking, who hosted scientific workshops at the estate.
Much of that history remains woven into the house today, in its ancient beams, mullioned windows, fireplaces and winding staircases.
