How to spot one
1. Frames will be homemade with screws or dowels , built with softwood available from any diy store . They won’t be tested for collapsibility, fire safety and will be chemically treated with toxic wood preservative not safe for childrens
Play . There will be no manufacturing stamp or CE /UKCA testing mark .
2 . Covers will be loose fitting with loops or ties which could be a strangulation risk . Covers will have no manufacturing label may have copyrighted designs most likely made from patterned duvet covers .
3 . Sharp edges on frames and not built to ce tested specifications .
Homemade tents are dangerous and illegal to hire to the public any public liability insurance will be invalid without the testing paperwork .
Illegal hirers can be reported to trading standards .
