πΆπ§οΈ A Bit Late With This One... But Two More Golden Oldies to Report! πΆ
It's been a very busy summer and, I'm not going to lie, Michael is definitely feeling it! π
There have been a lot of gigs, a lot of travelling and a lot of singing. Michael doesn't regret a second of it, though. If anything, this summer has simply reiterated how much he genuinely loves entertaining.
The weather has also changed rather dramatically. For the first time in what feels like months, the heatwaves have been replaced by a bit of liquid sunshine! π§οΈβ And to be fair, the water from above has been much needed.
πΆ Friday β Pengarth Hub , Penzance
Friday saw Michael back at Pengarth Hub in Penzance for a much more relaxed session.
The duck shirt had been specifically requested... so naturally, it had to make an appearance! π¦π Although Michael suspects the staff enjoyed it even more than the clients!
Needles and Pins is becoming a real favourite of Michael's and is getting plenty of outings at the moment, along with Music to Watch Girls By.
The tune is great... the lyrics, however? Michael chooses to largely ignore those because they're perhaps a little questionable nowadays! π
Pengarth also has one relatively new client who is definitely not a Proper Job's Golden Oldies fan! He tends to spend the session with a rather pained expression on his face and his fingers worryingly deep in his ears.
You can't win them all! π
πΆ Today β Courtlands Care Home
Today's session was a little closer to home at Courtlands Care Home, and as always, they were a lively bunch!
Michael continued the casual theme with a pastel checked shirt before heading into the dining room. Soundcheck today was Gaz Brookfield's "I Can't Drink Cider Anymore".
Absolutely not a Golden Oldie... but a brilliant tune nonetheless. Check it out on Spotify! πΆ
The session itself included plenty of lovely singing and dancing, and then the musical instruments came out!
Well, there was only one sensible response to that...
Slade β "Cum On Feel the Noize"! π€π€
(And yes, it really is spelt like that!)
Michael also has to take his hat off to the carers at all the places he visits. β€οΈ
He genuinely couldn't do their job. They deal with so much, often with patience, care and a real passion for the people they support. Seeing that first-hand is something Michael has huge respect for.
And then came the quote of the day...
One resident, who is an absolute hoot but sadly doesn't remember Michael from one visit to the next, had been listening from the lounge.
As Michael was leaving, she called out:
"Was that you making that noise?"
Thinking an ear-bashing was coming, Michael cautiously confirmed that yes, it had been him.
She then shouted back with absolute, unbridled joy:
"It was f*g lovely, thank you!" πβ€οΈπ€
Honestly... Michael will take that as a five-star review!
Two more sessions, plenty of laughs, lots of music and another reminder that despite being absolutely knackered...
Michael wouldn't change it. β€οΈπΆ
