It doesn’t begin with colour.

There’s always a quieter starting point -
structure, tone, something to hold it all together.

From there, it builds slowly.
Green first, then depth, then colour -
layered in where it feels right, not all at once.

A process of adding, adjusting, stepping back -
until everything settles into place.

This wasn’t the original plan.

By morning, the original site was completely exposed - 50mph winds and nowhere to hide. So Emma and I walked the grounds, looking for an alternative.

We settled on the walled garden. More sheltered, more contained.

The florals were reworked to frame the statue, and the space shifted - quieter, more intimate, unexpectedly right.

Sometimes a change in direction brings something better into focus.

They’re known for it (it’s in the name, after all), but with the right conditioning and care, they’ll hold their own.

A good soak, gentle misting, and a bit of attention behind the scenes makes all the difference.
