It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of a much-loved member of the Great Yorkshire Show family, Margaret Chapman.

A former President of the Society and Chief Cattle Steward at the Show, with more than 50 years of dedicated voluntary service in support of GYS, Margaret will be sorely missed by everyone at the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and the Great Yorkshire Show.

Great Yorkshire Show 2026 Main Ring Attraction Announced: Motorbike stunt riding team Bolddog FMX Team 🏍️ 🙌 🎉

Managed by one of Europe's top freestyle motocross riders, Dan Whitby, the team uses one of the largest, most sophisticated FMX landing ramps ever seen anywhere in the world.

Riders will use the ramp to perform tricks flying 35ft in the air when they take to the Main Ring once a day for all four days. The team last appeared at the Show in 2019. 👏

We have a rare opportunity for an organised and enthusiastic individual to become part of our well-established team responsible for the delivery and success of the Great Yorkshire Show.

As Livestock & Entries Officer, you’ll play a vital role within the Livestock & Entries Department, providing high-quality administrative support and helping ensure the smooth running of livestock entries and related activities.

This is a permanent, full-time role operating on an annualised hours contract to reflect the seasonal nature of the work - with busier periods leading up to the Show and quieter times afterward.

There's lots happening at the Great Yorkshire Showground during November & December!

The rumours are true! The Great Yorkshire Showground featured in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. 👏 🎬

Our events team from the Great Yorkshire Events Centre had multiple meetings with producers to ensure we found the right location for them and it was a real privilege to host such a prestigious production.

Scenes shot at the Showground were based on the Yorkshire County Show, set in 1930, using both permanent and temporary structures on site.

Jim Carter who plays Mr Carson told ITV This Morning that he was born in Harrogate and even learned to ride his bike at the Showground.

The collecting ring used by riders warming up to compete at the Great Yorkshire Show, was also used as part of the film.

Visitors to the Great Yorkshire Show have helped raise a record-breaking donation to charity!🎉🎉

Proceeds from this year's popular Cheese Auction total an amazing £12,502 and will be split between two charities, Samaritans and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

It's the largest amount ever raised by the Cheese Auction at the Show, thanks to a match-funding contribution by HSBC in support of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

This year’s fundraising means the Show’s Cheese Auction has now raised more than £62,000 for worthy causes over the years. Other recipients have included the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), Herriot Hospice Homecare and Addington Fund.

After organising and hosting the Great Yorkshire Show last month, we're busy arranging knowledge exchange and networking events, skills and wellbeing training, and lots more.

Congratulations to our School Veg Box competition winners Marsden Junior School in Huddersfield! 🏆 🎉

The School Veg Box competition challenges primary schools across Yorkshire to grow healthy British produce from scratch every year and this year had Wonderful Worms as its theme. The finalist's veg boxes are displayed in the Discovery Zone at the Great Yorkshire Show, and the overall winner is announced during the Show.

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society is very grateful to the competition’s sponsors Wormganix, Mr Fothergill’s, Yorganics Compost, Pink Pig and Grow to School CIC.

A huge thank you to our amazing stewards! They're part of the incredible team of over 350 volunteers who help make the Great Yorkshire Show such a fantastic event.

Many of them have been helping us for as long as we can remember, and we recently celebrated John Furness who worked his 50th Great Yorkshire Show this year. An incredible achievement and we can’t thank him enough for all that he has done for us.

Great Yorkshire Show Wedding! 💍

Last week, Peri Dunford and Mark Jones tied the knot in the Forestry section, after getting engaged at the Show last year. Mark and Peri are very much part of the Great Yorkshire Show, with Mark taking part in the Pole Climbing competitions and Peri demonstrating horse logging.

It was a wonderful celebration of love and forestry! We wish them both a lifetime of happiness. 🌳💒
