We are very proud to announce that HRH Princess Royal is the new President Elect of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and will formally become President at the end of the 2027 Great Yorkshire Show (13-16 July 2027).

The Princess Royal has been a regular visitor to the Great Yorkshire Show, first attending in 1992 and then subsequently in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.

She becomes the first royal President since HRH The Duchess of Kent in 1972 and follows in the footsteps of the Show’s first female President, her great aunt Princess Mary, later The Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood, who took the role in 1937, 1951 and 1957.

HM King Charles III has been the Society’s Patron since 1998 and has also been a frequent visitor, attending in 1999, 2006, 2011, 2015 and 2021.

Stunning finale to the 167th Great Yorkshire Show!

Friday’s chat show star who has built up a huge following after appearing in Clarkson’s Farm, was a big hit with visitors, taking to the Ariat GYS Stage to talk about her farming life in Derbyshire, her previous career as a qualified nurse and her newfound fame with TV presenter

🐄 Harriet, whose partner James’ family run a Simmental herd, visited the cattle lines where she presented rosettes in the Beef Young Handlers class for exhibitors aged 12-14. First prize went to Abbie Jackson-Carr, 13, of Carlecotes near Sheffield, showing Hereford cow, JC1 Marigold. It was a victory backed up by further success at the Show for Abbie, winning the Hereford breed championship with Coley Malan as well as Female Champion.

Show Director Rachel Coates said: “I would like to thank our outgoing President, Nick Lane Fox for his invaluable contributions over the last 12 months. The Show's success really is the sum of all of the contributions made by our volunteers, staff and stewards, and I'm hugely grateful to everyone, including our visitors, who have made this record-breaking Great Yorkshire Show such a wonderful occasion in its 167th year.” Nick Lane Fox handed over the Presidency of show organisers, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society as Rodrica Straker stepped forward to take over for 2026-27.

🐑 A pair of Texel sheep proved a hit with the judge when they won the Overall Sheep Pairs Championship. Belonging to Eammon Vaughan of Partridge Nest Farm Texels, in Staffordshire the duo were chosen by judge Mr Steve Smith as the best from a strong competition of pairs from both the Non MV and MV classes, which they won moments earlier.

Day 3: Equine Fairytales & Livestock Champions🏆

🐴A memorable third day at the Great Yorkshire Show saw local legend John Whitaker claim the prestigious Ripon Select Foods C**k O' the North title for a seventh time. The 70-year-old narrowly edged out nephew James on Just Call Me Henry, producing three flawless clear rounds aboard Equine America Unick du Francport before stopping the clock at 39.42 seconds in the jump-off.

🐄In the livestock rings, the focus was on Supreme Champions across many sections, including cattle where the Beef Supreme championship went to an Aberdeen Angus cow, Blelack Princess Carina, with calf at foot, owned by Devon-based Mr and Mrs Mike Alford and handled by Cathal O’Meara and Daisy Newton, who said: “It’s a great accolade and a great pleasure to show this class of cattle.

🐑The Supreme Sheep Champion made it two out of three so far with its win at the Great Yorkshire Show. Ellie Owens carried on a family tradition of showing Kerry Hills like her father who thought ‘she was mad’ for setting out to show at The Highland, the Great Yorkshire Show and the Royal Welsh in the same show season.

Roll on the final day...🎉🏅
